Bethesda Explains the Graphics Technology of Fallout 4

Bethesda has explained all of the new graphics tech that Bethesda has added to Fallout 4 and how each of them work to add more depth and vibrancy to the title. They also mentions their "good friend over at Nvidia".

This pretty much confirms the Nvidia talk from another thread earlier, talks about all these features that are part of GameWorks but has not been marketed as GameWorks.
 
They use tessellation for god rays? Isn't that the same crap that killed performance in Black Flag on pretty much everything? Yep, that sounds like Nvidia alright.

That is not all of it though, it has "Dynamic Dismemberment using Hardware Tessellation"

It looks like GameWorks was designed to use as much tessellation as possible to hurt AMD more, as Nvidia traditionally have better tessellation ability.

If they have many features of Gameworks I wonder why they aren't marketing the game as such? Doesn't Nvidia want to be part of one of the most anticipated titles of the year?

Perhaps Bethesda don't want GameWorks Associated with them, given Arkham Knight, Assassins Creed Unity and the HairWorks Witcher stuff.

While that may be true, the fact they talk about Nvidia and then how they helped them with some tech(many of which comes from them) you would think they would realize reviewers and PC gamers would notice how similar it all is?Just means they'll connect you to GW anyways I would assume:p

Oh noooooo one more NVIDIA GimpWorks crap inplementation...how much tesselation has been forced 16x or more who knows...Maxwell needs to be advertised as best...their poor coding always cripple amd hurts nvidia older cards too,but thats dirty business from beginnings...we all know that gameworks games works much better on NVIDIA even with those effect turned off they are paying developers and give them GPU-s too...horrible scam corporation i truly dont like NVidia..thats why i will buy red gpu soon:cool:

You do realise that Gameworks is integrated heavily into these games and even when you turn Gameworks off, there are other graphics effects that need to run that are tied to Gameworks.

In other words you can never actually turn Gameworks off as its an integral part of the game's engine. This is the problem. Nvidia push tessellation and find more ways to improve graphic fidelity using tessellation. Third parties take up these new system and integrate them into their games. However, whilst the implementations give Nvidia cards a distinct advantage, that advantage becomes pointless as the game as a result can't even run as intended (especially in the original case of Arkham Knight).

By further amping up the level of tessellation, there will be an even larger strain on the graphics cards running the game engine and I hope this doesn't happen, but considering how much Bethesda is relying on Nvidia, we will likely see a launch akin to Black Flag and Arkham Knight.

And the core problem is, tessellation is actually a really inefficient way to render graphics. I don't care if you can perfect graphics down to single atoms. At the end of the day, the viewer sees the macro-effects of these implications, not the micro-effects, the single pixel differences and the sooner developers realise this, the sooner we will get games with amazing graphical fidelity with a low graphic load.

Yes buddy i realise that...gameworks inplementation will still affect performance,they are experts...and also you cannot see visually when they increase tesselation to 12, 16X or 32X but it will be taxing.....i have nvidia letter if somebody is interested to read??? more than 2 years old but interested,with their signature..send me pp here who is interested to see amazing nvidia letter way to be played..:)
