Hello all my gigabyte gaming 5 z97x motherboard decided to give up on me recently getting the reboot loop unfortunately. I now need to replace the motherboard however im not sure if there is any other boards better than the gigabyte gaming 5 within the £0-150 price range if anyone could recommend me some it would be much appreciated kind regards vibe

Are you overclocking at all? The reason why I ask is it all depends on what you are doing with your PC. If you could elaborate more so that us forumites can recommend you the right motherboard :)

I really like my Z97-AR. Cheap but solid. I'd hazard it supports overclocking reasonably well, I can't say as my 4770k appears to be unable to go past 4ghz..

Hmm I do have an ASUS Z97 Mark S Sabranco I could sell for £150. Unusued for that matter.

Was planning a build which never came to be.

I will be mainly using it for gaming and a small amount of overclocking. Appreciate all the help from you guys i was curious will the "Z97-AR" support a m.2 drive at full speed and which board would you say is better "Asus z97 A/AR" or the "Asrock z97x Fatal1ty killer". Thanks for all feedback its much appreciated

Looks a really nice motherboard and i appreciate the offer but i would struggle to get the white to work in my red/black colour scheme :(.

The Fatal1ty is a better board, IIRC its Asrock's equivalent to the ROG lineup. Asrock make very good products nowadays. They used to be a bit rough around the edges but now I'd say they're easily on par with everyone else.

My only complaint is that it has a Killer LAN chip, which is (based on first hand experience) a far inferior network product compared to everything else. I don't think I'll ever by a product which has killer ever. Even if it means I'd have to get a motherboard with lower feature sets.

-edit- For example I was never able to get it to play nicely with source engine games, particularly TF2. I'd get packet loss and other weird issues. Before anyone asks, I know it wasn't the connection from my house and I know it wasn't the server itself.

What about the ASUS Gryphon Z97 Armor Edition?... Almost completely all black and it just collecting dust :p

Really nice looking board too but i think im leaning towards the "z97 Asus MAXIMUS VIII RANGER" Thanks for the offer too its much appreciated .

Does anyone have opinions on the "z97 Asus MAXIMUS VIII RANGER" Looks like a really nice board and not badly priced. Any feedback would be much appreciated

As with nearly all high end boards, it's going to be solid and reliable. What separates boards these days are usability of the BIOS and the aesthetic of the board when you talk about the high end market.

Appreciate all the feedback/help from you guys i ordered the "Z97 Asus republic of gamers" The aesthetic's on it drew me in will go nicely with my red/black build :D. Thanks again your help/offers are all much appreciated.
