Best Watercooling for a Phantom 410?

Hi guys,

I'm building my mate a computer, he's wanting a phantom 410, and he's wanting watercooling.

We're only gunna do a single, cpu only loop, with a Raystorm, Alphacool bay res with 2 alphacool ceramic pumps.

But, what's peoples best advice for a radiator choice, and placement.

We see the thickest rad for the top is 34/35mm, so what's the best rad we can get here?

He's wanting it mainly for aesthetics, but also for performance so thats the reason for not going H100.

Would you also advise maybe a second rad in the bottom, or just 1 thicker rad for the bottom?

If anyone would make any changes to the system, please voice your opinion. Trying to save money, but dont want to go for the RASA kit, so if you think 1 of the ceramic pumps will do, or have any other quiet, well performing alternatives, please let us know.

Thanks for the help!

What about the full tower phantom? One can be picked up for around the same as a 410 and would provide you with a bit more room to make sure things don't look cramped inside.

I have a phantom 410 with air cooling and personally I think you will struggle in terms of room with a nice water cooling set-up.

What are you cooling as well? This greatly affects the size of radiators and general watercooling kit you should be considering

I personally think 'cramped' watercooling looks a lot better. Obviously doesnt perform as well though.

Will be cooling a Phenom 965, hopefully overclocked to around 4.2ghz.

I think if we're only cooling a cpu, there isnt really a need to a full tower case tbh

For 35mm rads i would say an XSPC EX240 as the EX line are one the best performing slim radiators. That would be more then enough to cool a phenom anyway not even the even the hexacore ones run warm. Something to take into consideration is how much if at all will the rad stick into the top drive bay as you may end up loosing it, haven't seen a phantom 410 so i have no idea.

I got this one in my phantom 410

http://www.hwlabs.co...id=26&Itemid=23

+ a 120 on rear exhaust for a total rad surface of 360x120 ( HWLabs GTS 120 ) , but be advised that the 120 only fits in pull configuration on the rear exhaust location ( rad is a bit larger then other 120 rads )

But keep in mind these rads have 30 FPI so you need fans with a good static pressure to really take advantage of the rad , but doesnt mean you have to run your fans on full speed .

In my case i had better cooling performance when pulling the air threw the radiator ( pull )

Since your just cooling a Phenom 2 , i would use a rad with less FPI ( 20 or 11 ).

This one one for example : ( 20 FPI )

Or this one : ( 11 FPI )

Cheers Mate !

Koolance rads are a bit pants tbh.

The EX240 from XSPC is your best best for a small rad, other choice would be the 30mm thick Alphacool all copper rads.

I can't actually tell if Koolance rads are pants ore not since i had no experience with Koolance products.

So you might better be listening to the people who actually had the product in their hands ( TTL who recommends you the XSPC EX 240 ) .

As a HwLabs GTS radiator user i can only report that i am amazed of the dissipation capability of these rads in comparision to their size .

Thanks for the advice guys.

Think we're gunna go for the XSPC EX 240 Xflow, says it's 35mm thick - It will definitely fit a phantom 410 yeh?
