Best rated cooling blocks?

It's hard researching to find the best rated cooling blocks. I am making my first water cooled PC (in a danger den water box pro) and it is only my second PC build. But there is a loack of review comparisons on the cooling effectiveness of water blocks on the market at present (unless I've missed a review site or two that does this).

I'm looking to use a Black Ice GTX 240 radiator and 1/2" tygon tubing. Looks like i am also getting a D5 laining pump as it is alot more powerful than a DCC utlra clear/uv blue top pump. CPU block i thing i will co for aqua computers cuplex XT Di.

Whats anyones views on this please?

Any recommendations for good chipset blocks for my north and south bridge?

Also any mosfets / voltage blocks that will fit my Abit IX38 Quat GT?

First off welcome to the forums mate :wavey:

Secondly I would very strongly advise you to ditch the idea of mosfet and southbridge blocks as they will do very little but reduce flow and offer no overall advantage. Especially with only a 240mm radiator.

I would also advise that if you are set on including a northbridge block to upgrade to a 360mm radiator. If this is not an option then the most advantageous course of action would be replace the NB block with a 3rd party air cooler and run just the CPU block with the 240mm radiator.

As for the block there are a few reviews in our review section and out there on the internet but youre generally best going for something like an Apogee GT or a Fuzion

I would strongly recomend the D-Tec Fuzion. By far the best CPU block I have used, also very nice to look at.

Yes I understand your point on the mosfet and southbridge blocks. Thanks for bringing that up. My Abit IX38 Quad GT motherboard has a heat pipe over the northbridge etc. But its a copper orange colour and I'm still gonna have to change it to something like Thermalrights heatsinks I think.

I liked the look of the Preyek Nemesis NB block.

For the mosfet I'd probably be looking at the Thermalright HR-09 S TYPE 2 but can't find anywhere that does the type 2 at the moment as i believe the type 2 is the size model i need.

For the southbridge maybe the Thermalright HR-05 IFX Chipset Cooler

my danger den water box pro is designed to use a single 240 radiator which is why I was gonna go with a Chrome 240 Black Ice GTX (xtreme version). So can't really go for the 360 radiator.

I'll check out the Apogee GT and Fuzion thanks llwyd!

If i went this route then the 240 radiator would still be cooling the CPU, Northbridge and also in the future a GPU. Think this will be okay everyone?

I don't like the look of either the Apogee GT 0r the D-Tec Fuzion blocks to be honest guys. My case a Danger Den water box Pro and is clear acrylic so with me going for a blue theme anything also on show has to go with a mix of my personal taste in appearance and of course performance. This is the case in another persons build that is inspiring me:

I was liking the Zalman Block (grey/silver colour and circular) that you can purchase separate but also comes with their Resperator XT kit. But Worried about barbs being non removeable on it as I'm going for 1/2" hose. At present aqua computers cuplex XT Di CPU water block is still my first choice. Prefer the appearance and looks nicer in its build. The Nexxxus Pro 1 or X2 also caught my eye.
