O right, forgot to consider that. Ya, apparantly that PSU uses a fairly loud fan.

At the end of the day, do you want a PSU that will last you for a couple of months or a couple of years?
Who knows what's over the horizon in terms of power sucking PC components, but if you buy a reasonably beefy PSU now, you wont have to make another purchase for a long time.
Also , the price difference between units is minimal, so why not get the best in your budget.

i suppose i see your point - i dont really want to spend much more than i have to - but i want some future proofing obviously - but i dont upgrade unless its absolute necessary, would a 500w be what im looking for or would a 600w (300w spare / 400w spare respectively)

my main thought is estimated how long (in years) would a 500w last me and how long would a 600w. obviously this is affected by lifespan of the component as well as the need for new technology so taking these into consideration if the 500w can run all i want and more (such as dx10 card and souncard etc.) with still some to spare imo it would be the best deal
With regards to 200w consumption - after checking, just the mobo, CPU, GPU & 2 sticks of ram would consume far more than that.
Then you need to take into consideration the PC's startup requirements. Components such as hard disks and fans consume a lot more power when spinning up.
Personally i wouldnt buy anything less than a 500w PSU.
Having never tested a Seasonic i couldnt comment personally, but the FSP unit is certainly a good unit once you get past its bare interior.

However, the P965 chipset on the P5B seems to clock higher and run cooler. They've already pushed out a bios with an fsb adjustable up to 650mhz after seeing the mass overclocking potential of this board.
At present, the only negative thing i have to say about it is that clockgen doesnt support it, so suicide overclocking is out the window.
well safe is the only way for me to go so i wont be overclocking to dangerous levels...i cant see myself being able to afford dual gpu lol and if i want it ill get one of those new cards with 2 cards built in. i am really interested in that board now as asus are apparently adding more and more updates to increase stability to an even higher level 
just out of interest did u order ur components of specialtech, if so what ram did you get as ive heard problems with ocz
also was it you who said they had a spare tj05 window lying around? is it black? how much u want for it

I got my E6600 from ST but unfortunately they didnt have the P5B in stock so i had to get it elsewhere. I think they have it back in stock now tho.
At the moment i'm running Mushkin PC2-8000, but i'll hopefully be testing some OCZ on the board soon.
I have a spare TJ05 side panel, but not a windowed one
