Best Mechanical Gaming Keyboard For Under £100

i used to have a razor which had cherry reds it was terrible for me tbh and i would hit "play" or record media key buttons when playing games, but looking and playing with my friends k90 corsair was really really nice if i was to get one now it would be a k90 or k95 when there out :D

MX Black- No tactility, heavy springs
MX Red- No tactility, light springs
MX Brown- Tactile, no click
MX Blue- Tactile, click
MX Green, Tactile, click, heavy

I'd recommend blues or greens.

Razer have never made a board with MX Reds and the Corsair boards are red too, so that is flawed from the off.

I wouldn't recommend a gaming board with mech switches (apart from CM). A Flico, Noppoo, Leopold, or even a debranded CM QFR

I have the Gigabyte Aivia Osmium mechanical gaming keyboard, it uses the red switch's and I've found it to be excellent for typing and gaming. it has full anti ghosting, USB 3 extension port & blue keyboard illumination.

One of the best things you can do it go to a shop that's got some of the keyboards (switch types) your are interested in and try them out, so you can see which type of switch you like the feel of, as people tend to like different switch's.

If you don't want loads of bells and whistles the Steelseries 6gv2 is a good choice, & if you want do want the bells and whistles the new Corsair K95 and my Aivia Osmium are all looking good.

Here a good guide on the switch types

As I said I woldn't recommend a gaming keyboard. I'd get a Noppoo Choc mini or a second hand Filco TKL. If you can wait you can order KBT boards from China which are a epic.

You can get a filco for £100 http://www.keyboardco.com/.

Filco are the best just none are backlit. Make sure that you get the switch right.

Yeh gaming keybaord are normally fairly tacky. But personally I woundn't get a china made keyboard,
Das are made in china now and so are the ducky Zeros stay clear of them.

KBT and Noppoo are made in the Far East and are VERY good boards for the money. My Choc Mini with blues was 60.

I have a qpad mk85 pro with reds.... love it for gaming :) whats wrong with reds over browns, that's the first i've heard anyone say reds are worse for gaming as that was the point of reds...

Reds are faster?

I'm thinking of picking up the blue qpad one for typing at work, we have to use mac keyboards there, which while nice and quiet.. now I've got used to a mecha one for gaming i feel i'd be better with a mecha one for working/coding too.

*shrug*

Tbh you need to touch the mecha keys and play games with each (not just type) to make you own decision, don't expect somewhere like pc world to stock them because they just look at you blankly when you start talking about switch colours, they're a useless bunch. Do you have a friend's keyboard you could try, failing that just buy one you like and try it, I can't see it being an issue if you send it back within 7 days or whatever. You can thank distance selling for that.

Thats what Im thinking of doing tbh there are a few I like the look of and as I have no pcworld near me I may just have to buy one see if I like it if not then send it back and get another

I hope you don't sit too close to other people, they will get annoyed very quickly :P
Those things are loud.

Heh, yeah I bet they are i've heard blue ones on videos but am yet to test one.
Maybe the red's might be better.... With silencer washers as well, it it's pretty quiet in the office.

I'm just so over the hollow thunk's of the aluminium mac keyboards, not to mention the whole stuck keys bit on them now.. They don't seem to have a fantastic typing lifetime. At first they're really nice but not so much after a year or three...

The N-Key rollover was what drew me to the QPad over everything else, I fly BF3 choppers/jets using keyboard only so 6 keys isn't enough! I need to flare/shoot/manoeuvre so that's 8 usually minimum :S Mac k/board just wasn't cutting the mustard at the time.

Browns with O-rings will probably be the best :)

What are they like for smoothness in comparison to reds?

Can you even get O-Ring kits in the UK? I remember looking and not finding any (thus got used to louder typing at home)

You can get them from WASDKeyboards and they feel tactile do produce and audible click, so they are much better for typing.

If you are using browns properly the orings won't make a difference.

For a work environment where you want to keep noise to a minimum these are ideal. Yes if you only type exactly to the actuation point then it wont matter but not many people can do that for every stroke.

QPAD MK-85

TOP-end keyboard but worth every penny with individually lit keys as well as offering a second to none `feel`. I also have the german `das keyboard` which again is prob the best quality mech. keyboard out there but has no lighting

As a current user of the Corsair K90 I can't recommend it enough.

However, if it was my cash I'd wait for the new K95 which is due for release very soon.
