Whats a very good motherboard that supports AMD x4 and x6 and can also run nvidia sli? i want to upgrade my MB i have an asus m4n98td evo

I do not believe there are any current mobo's that'll support x4/x6 and sli. I think since AMD bought out ATI that option went bye bye. There are however mobo's that will let you use 2 nvidia cards just not in sli.

darn thats lame i think im going to have to make the switch over to intel if i want sli... or stick with my x4 965 with some amd gpu. meditate on this i will, lol thanks man...

examples:

ASUS M4N98TD EVO

MSI NF980-G65

NVIDIA nForce 980a SLI

All have the nForce 980a chip(support sli), there are surely more.

does Lucid support sli on AMD??? I thought it was only hydra. Which allows 2 green team cards but not sli. As far as the nforce mobos arent those older tech?? do the support the X4/X6 platforms??

very very sweet

wish I had seen this mobo before I got my CH IV or I may of gone a different route. but I also thought nforce on AMD Platform was older tech might be why I overlooked it as I was searching for newest AMD 890fx lines

the lucid chip supports N, A, and X mode

sli

crossfire

and mixed

The MSI 870A Power Edition supports native crossfireX without completely depending on the lucid, although the lucid does enable this without the use of the bridge.

the lucid enables 2x vendor-like unmatched graphics cards or a mixed unmatched solution.

yes I looked at this board extensively even to the point of pm'n TTL as he reviewed the MSI Fusion (non Power Edition) and anyway I never really found anything that stated SLI support just the ability to run 2 Nvidia cards. Which yes is considered SLI but the benifits froom true SLI are better than the Hydra options. I think you'll have to run a nvidia chipset on an amd to get true sli

i have a m4n82 deluxe that is AM2+, has a 1055T in it, and is the 980A chipset.

i used to have two XpertVision 8800GT super+ 1GB (now palit) in SLI on it and it worked like a charm.

my MSI 870A PE arrives sometime tomorrow (should have been today - i ranted earlier - lol)

i will pop the two old 8800GT's on it, and tell you how it goes.

but in the end i will be putting a 1090T, HD5870 and a GTX480 on it

Sweet let me know haow it goes with the 870PE I'm extremely interested. I only went with the CH IV cause I got such a sweet deal on it with 4gb of ripjaw ram for 155$ shipped. Boards normally 229$ I'm thinking maybe mt next upgrade (well downgrade 2 me) might be INTEL seriously considering i7 970 and sli'n my 560ti but that'll be like a grand to do. If the 870PE is true sli I may go that way and get a 1090t and another 560ti and that'll be like 500$

i cannot stress more DO NOT BUY THE CROSSHAIR EXTREME IV for sli.it doesnt work mate i bought it put 2 x gtx 570,s used hydra drivers= crap stick with real nvidea sli.this is just a gimmick an unfinished product in my opinion.this lucid thing is very unstable lags in all games.pc shuts down randamly/bsods.just my 2p worth.

yeah thats not really an option either for him as stated above the lucid hydra is not true sli just the ability to run 2 greens, the only way to get true sli on an AMD platform is use an Nvidia chipse twhich even TTL says is a really bad idea lol

IMHO the best way for best performance on AMD is to either run 1 Nvidia of the highest spec you can or xfire the same but in ATI flava. This is the way I ended up going with my GTX560Ti
