Sweet thanks! Now each fan is around the 16$ mark here where i can buy them so i'm really undecided on what i should buy.

Well I can only really recommend from what I've used...which from your list is just the Silverstones.
But at 5v, they're completely silent really. And at 7v they're very quiet too.

I'm sure other users will be able to share their opinions on which they've tried.

Well i'll look into the AP121s but for now i'll stick with the options i listed... AP123s are winning in the polls so far so i am kind of leaning towards them but still keeping an open mind.

Both are great fans but whats the static pressure like at 7v? I got quite a bit of restriction in the front intake and later adding in a 60/80mm thick rad is just going to make the situation worse.

i run mine at 7v an have no problems they still do great, i have will be using them for a monsta rad too mate put it that way. also i have a similar case to yourself

Yes we do but i also have a front door with less intake capacity and then a thick grill then the fan then the rad. You have huge open mesh/dust filter/fan rad.
Big difference lol:p

Sucks because i would love to get the AP123s but they're the most expensive and i need at least 2, i could get one now but seems like a waste of effort.

So was just searching around for fans and came across a bundle of 4 Cougar vortex fans for only 14$ more than a single vortex fan! Should i try this? Considering i could buy 2 single ones and pay the same price with any other of the options in the poll?

I think my choices have come down to the AP123s or Cougar Vortex(4 pack). MAYBE Ap121s if you guys really think they are better than the two previously stated. Only problem would be that i would need extensions for them because they're unsleeved.

I think the AP123s will be better than the 121s.

Sorry if I've not really been too clear on this, but the AP123s are pretty new, so I'm only using the AP121s as a comparison for Silverstone fan overall quality.

I thought the AP121s were amazing, so the newer revised version I'd have thought would be better. I do prefer the chrome looks of the AP121s though.

What are unsleeved? The AP121s (and I'm sure the others do to) definitely come pre-sleeved with a high quality black sleeving.

Oh thanks for clearing that up, but from pictures i have seen the AP121s are unsleeved. They may have updated this but i wouldn't know:p

I can get the Ap123s for about a dollar more than a Ap121 so i am assuming i mine as well get the latest tech? But if that is the case how would they compare to the Vortex fans? Vortex are rated at around 1.73mmH20 at 1200rpm with 60.4cfm and a 17.7db's. And are also designed to move air in a straight column.. Such a hard choice:p

Hmm, not too sure what pictures you've seen then...
I have 8 of them atm, 2 more on the way, and my friend has 2 more too - bought in total from 5/6 different places and every one is sleeved.

If you're really that undecided about it, why not buy one of each? I'd sooner do that than buy an entire rig's worth of fans to decide you don't like them. Can always use them elsewhere or put them on ebay and only lose a couple of $.

Good point but that's just a lot of hassle.. But i fear there is no other way around this now is there? I will take your advice and buy the fans.

BUT i would still like everyone elses opinion as it may help me in the future if i can't decide which i will still perfer and also may help be able to help others down the road as well:)

Well the more you undervolt fans, the less difference you actually see between them.
Assuming none of the fans have motor noises, if you run any fan at 5v it isn't really going to be too audible, and due to the low RPMs, you won't actually see much difference in temperature at all between say an AP121 at 5v, and a Noctua NF-P12 for example.

Motor noise is the biggest issue I find really with fans. Coolermaster's motors make horrible noise, which is made more apparent when they're undervolted, and if used on a fan controller, makes them completely unusable IMO. I've heard some issues about the Corsairs making a bit of noise under fan controllers, but they seem fine under straight power.

The only other thing to be weary of is the pitch that the fans make. Some fans like Scythe GTs make a higher pitched noise than other fans, so while they aren't necessarily louder than other fans, they do stand out more.

I do find things incredibly subjective with fans because of this though. So many reviews recommend fans that turn out to produce ridiculous amounts of noise IMO, and there's not really any clear way to objectively measure them without trying loads yourself.
I do see myself as quite a bit of a noise freak, and I have tried a lot of fans myself - just unfortunately for you, not these new German ones that seem to be popping up around the place. They're often too hard to find in the UK.

Well i agree with you 100% but i also like the "air" sound to be quite low but i know that's impossible regardless of the fan simply because of the rpms they run at.

Depending on how quiet and satisified i am with the fans i may or may not undervolt them unless when i water cool eventually i can get acceptable temps at 7v.

I've only built one rig before so i have not been in the game for very long so this is why i'm sort of relying on the advice of everyone for fans. Since i never purchased any i have no expierence with them... Thanks for the help btw:p

Anyone else care to join in?

I see people voting but no one is caring to explain their expierence with the fans:p

Anyone care to correct me if i'm wrong here; but this is the math i thought would be correct on how to find rpms on voltage reducers.

Corsair Sp120 HP: 2350rpm/12volts = 195.83rpm 195.83rpm * 5volts= 979.15rpm.
Corsair Sp120 QE: 1450rpm/12volts = 120.83rpm 120.83rpm * 7volts= 845.81rpm

Which would you recommend? Will the rise in rpm make a difference in noise? Will the increase performance be worth any cables i will need to buy at 5volts?
Keep in mind i plan on watercooling later!:)
