Wanting to upgrade my mobo so I can overclock was wondering what was the best budget 1155 z77 board on the market

Your CPU is a non-K series one which means that you can't really adjust the multiplier. If you want to overclock, you're going to need a new processor as well.

Other then that; It may be a good idea to tell us what you're looking for in a motherboard. Do you want Sata3? USB3? SLI and CrossFireX support? What form factor should it be? Etc, etc...

I no it's Locked but it can be multiplier overclocked from what I have read online upto 4ghz

I wouldn't mind sli but not essential must be sata3 and atx

Not worth buying a new motherboard just for a +400MHz boost. That's barely even going to give you any difference.

Also, please don't double post but use the

Hang on isn't overclocking all about getting the most out of what u have got so 400 MHz is better than nowt lol and I want the mobo as I'm thinking of upgrading to a i7 after my wedding next year lol

Yes, getting the most out of what you've GOT, buying a new MoBo wouldn't be what you've got right now, and IMO the 400MHz boost wouldn't justify the price of the motherboard. I too would really want to be saving a bit longer and buying a new unlocked K CPU with a new MoBo to get really good overclocks and extra performance.

This.

Buying both at the same time also allows you to move up to the Haswell platform instead of being stuck on an 'outdated' socket.

So basically buy a i7 4770k and a z87 mobo

If you are so inclined then yes.

If i was you i would just stick with what you have now and wait for the next gen CPUs to come out. Otherwise you are sort of wasting money for next to nothing in performance gains.

Wish I had that sort of money between house kids and wedding doesn't leave much that's y I was just goin to try and upgrade what I already have

In that case save up. Depending on the GPU you currently have it may be more wise to upgrade that. Other than that your CPU and Mobo are both good to go:)
