Love the desktop mate. What is the particular package that you want to use with portage? Soz haven't dabbled with Gentoo for a while, I've been lazy.

Right now all the packages are marked unstable and therefore aren't in portage, they are in the xeffects overlay, the package is beryl. I am going to add links, in the first post, to the instructions I used.

Is it a Triumph Herald? Not sure tho

Nice desktop. Must get properley into Linux...just wish I had more time :(

It is a Triumph TR3, hopefully my next car, but we will see. If you ever want to talk Linux just shout.

Have you tried using the revdep-rebuild tool in Gentoolkit mate. It'll rebuild your dependencies in the event that something came unstuck in your attempted emerge?

Ah of course the TR3

When I do decide I have some time I'll hit ya up on MSN

Sounds good.

That car is awesome!

You are a lucky sheet if you get that! ;)

The classics are always the best

I agree I will be lucky, but it is not so much a get thing as a buy thing. ;)

No, I haven't that is a good idea, I am going to try that thanks.

How much would one of these beasties cost? :worship:

I am not sure about in the UK, but here a restored TR3A easily goes for $20,000. I am planning to restore one though, so I think I can maybe get one for about $3,000.

So did the revdep-rebuild tool fix the problem? I'm interested to know...

The problem turned out to be the idiot behind the keyboard, the masked package complaint turned out to be a dependency and once I unmasked that it worked. Thanks for the help though.
