Benching multiple rigs and Windows

So, I’m sick and tired of reinstalling windows and all of the Benchmarks every time I get a new rig to bench.

I have several IDE 40Gb disks laying around here, and I use one of them for benching. It’s a pretty bare version of XP Home SP3, but at the moment only works on one rig. If I use it on a different rig it just BSOD’s.

So how do you guys deal with this? Do you reinstall windows on every new chipset/rig?

Or is there a way of making a disc plug and play on every chipset?

some of the top benchers do a clean intall every bench session weather or not the chipset has changed. i have spoken to some and they do a clean install just to test a new driver to reduce conflict issues.

i tend to stick with the same install till i change chipset and start fresh then.

most of the cpu tests can be put on a thumb drive and copied across with out an install but the 3d stuff needs to be installed on the os.

if you have a stripped down os it cant take that long to install anyway does it?

i think you should be able to fix the install with the windows disk but then it will take about the same time as a fresh install and might cause driver conflicts so id still say a fresh install is best.

Ok guys, tnx for the anwsers. Guess it was just me being lazy

nah it doesn't take that long, however it wasn't a unattended install disc, so I had to enter the keys/setting manually. I'm making a new one as we speak
