Be Quiet Shadow Wings Radiator Compatibility???

Computer crazy

Hi,

I am wondering if the Be Quiet Shadow wings are compatible with radiators such as the XSPC RX series. I am aware that the fans use a push pin style mounting system and I am wondering if this can be removed to allow the fans to be used with normal M3's for use on radiators or if there is another way of mounting them to the radiator?

Also these fans seem extremely quiet but I would like some first hand opinions are they silent at 12v and is the build quality good?

Cheers in advance. :)

Oh, sorry - I misread it for Silent wings.

I have one of the silent wings 2 and that comes with the 2 different fittings, but I dont know about the Shadow Wings. I'd guess from the data it does tbh.

There are other options you can go for though, why those specifically?

After looking, around I think the Shadow wings only come with the push pin design and the Silent Wings 2 come with the 2 types of fittings.

I have heard great things about the Be Quiet fans and I want to make the new rig silent. I was looking at the Corsair Quiet edition fans but not sure how they compare to the Be Quiets on noise.

I would be willing to go with the Silent Wings 2 but they are a bit more expensive than the shadow wings.

What would your other suggestions be for really quiet fans that shift a reasonable amount of air?

Should have said in the OP about needing 120 and 140mm editions and would really like to have the same brand of fans throughout.

Cheers :)

Well I got my bequiet fan because I bought a £600 order from aria, and like spending money so I thought what the hell, lets by another fan too :)

I agree it is silent - but it doesnt really shift much air IMO. That could be different because of pressure on a rad, but as case fans, I dont rate it much.

The Corsair ones are meant to be very good, and if they're quieter than Noctuas, then that's got to mean something.

I personally use Silverstone Air Penetrators, and I do rate those very highly for noise and airflow

Hi guys,

Just to let you know that we are here now to help ;)
The SilentWings 2 are the ones with the adapter that lets you choose between 5V, 7V and 12V. It also comes with two different mounting kits. The Shadow Wings only come with only mounting that is fixed to the fan and has no adapter included. The bearing of the SilentWings 2 is FDB and the ShadowWings come with Rifle Bearing.

We have had comments that it's difficult to mount our fans to radiators, we have addressed that problem and will implement the solution in the next SilentWings series. As for now, I read that people used either zip ties or elastic straps to mount the fans in radiators.

Any questions, let me know. :)

Hi, Nice to have another rep here!

Is there no way a secondary adapter kit for rads could be made for the silent wings 2? I personally just find it a little tedious that I myself and others have spend £15 on a fan that brags high static pressure and silence but cant be used on a rad. Even if this were to be sold, you'd only need 4 of the rubber corners with open ends?
Cheers

Hi, good to be here!

I am discussing the upgrade kit quickly with the PM team. Thanks,

Chris

Agreed nice to see another rep on the forums nothing better than getting the information from the manufacturer themselves and the manufacturer listing to customers as to what they want. :)

As I have already established the Silent wings aren't compatible with radiators and the Silent wings 2 come with 2 different mounting types. Are the Silent Wings 2 to be compatible with M3s for use on radiators?

You mentioned about making the new Silent Wings being compatible with radiators are these likely to be available shortly?

Cheers :)

Silent Wings 2s are already out. He's saying the Silent Wings 3 will be rad compatible.

Sorry. No they arent, that's what my comment was about, as to why it's a little odd having a 15 quid fan that isnt compatible with a rad. The 2 mounts they include allow for their own mounting system and the usual case fan screws (ie - ones that cant go all the way through). I think it's a little weird that they even bothered to include the screw ones since their own mounts are very good anyway.

Got it cheers. :D

I was under the impression from my original post that the Silent Wings 2 were compatible but I just checked on the Be Quiet site again and then read how the mounts were for normal fan screws as mentioned above. It is definitely something I would like to see, I have used Be Quiet fans in other builds and have always been impressed, by the quality and how quiet they are!

+1 I would like to see an additional mounting mechanism sold separably to make them compatible with radiators or if thats not possible make all the Be Quiet fans in future compatible with radiators across the range.

Any idea when the Silent Wings 3 may be released?

:)

Sorry - I think I made a mistake in my first post. Just assumed they were rad compatible as they'd come with the extra set of fittings - didnt even check, just couldnt get my head around the fact that they'd included the second fittings that you'd never really have to use unless you just liked screws :)
