battlefield 4 beta settings and fps

LOL, I tried to look back to see if you noticed me and jumped off but couldn't turn. I wonder what happens when you stay on the building when it collapses.

The graphics are quite nice, they did look a little soft as you put it though. Was nice to see some high quality lighting from the sun between trees. You don't see that on the PS3!

You die, I tried it.

yeah the best way to describe it kind of like crysis 3's use of soft edges? maybe? i dunno.. it's nice though.

Lol, bless you for not having played a game on PC that had light rays :P

It's the little thing eh?

Lol I thought you might die. But is it just the you drop dead animation or do you fall?

Haha, last game I played that had fancy graphics on PC was probably STALKER: Doo Dah Pripyat, that was DX10.1 if I remember correctly? It's been a long time since I had a gaming rig.

Well I ran it last night and had really poor performance at first.

Before I updated my graphics drivers.

Lagging/Stuttering like crazy with massive frame rate drops.

Max frame rate at 1080p with max settings except AA and HBAO turned off as they annoy me, was around the 60fps mark.

After updating graphics drivers

Stuttering stopped and the frame rate drops stopped happening as much but they still happend every now and then, but I did end up with quite abit of graphics corruption with smoke and fire.

Lagging still happened and it was nothing to do with my connection as I was maintaining a 15ms to 20ms ping.

Max frame rate at the same settings though jumped up to over 100fps dependent on the area of the map I was in.

I have my cpu overclocked at 4.6ghz and I tested that overclock yesterday, by running Prime95 from 6am before I left for work, till 4:30pm and it had not crashed and gave no errors when I stopped it, so I would say that it's stable and the max core temp was 80c.

Graphics cards were ran at stock speed as I don't want to overclock them until they are under water this weekend.

Sounds like it's living up to it's expectations then.. they did say 3GB VRam would be required for higher settings. I hear they aren't all optimized yet though but I wouldn't expect miracles before release.

i gotta say i started playing it again around 11:30 last night, an i havd a lot of fun using the recon class an the bolt action rifles.

oh an sin i actually change my sig when i put new components in my rig, but here you go anyway :MB: Gigabyte FXA UD5 rev.3
CPU: AMD FX 8350
COOLING: Corsair H100i
RAM: 8Gb Corsair 1866Mhz Low Profile Vengeance
GPU: vtx3d hd7870 black 1050mhz core overclock
STORAGE: x2 1TB Caviar Green (in a raid) x1 60Gb OCZ Agility 3 boot drive

ultra textures and low AA all other settings on high at 1080p, 40fps with a lot going on screen (64man) an in smaller battles between 50/60fps (64man)

I think that was his point. So you post saying you get 45fps with everything on Ultra, specs in your sig, which at the time of posting are correct. Then you decide that you're not happy with 45fps so you upgrade to 2 x 290X cards and update your sig. Now anyone that reads it will see that you got 45fps using the spec in your sig, which now says you have Crossfire 290X and were getting 45fps. Bit misleading I'd say!

LOOOADS of benchmarks have appeared on a foreign site.

I'll pull images in as well but here: http://gamegpu.ru/action-/-fps-/-tps/battlefield-4-beta-test-gpu.html

Credit to gamegpu.ru and to a chap on linus' forums to finding these

it seems BF4 LOVES cpu cores!

Not from me mate, and feedback about the place is some of that isn't super accurate and most of it is @Stock so overclocks can make a difference. But on a quick glance, lots of cores and 780 SLi seems to be the winning ticket at the minute.

*Isn't smug about his 3930k at all*

I could have swore BF4 used more than 7 threads when I played it last night.

Will have to check tonight and also see how much vram is being used as well.

Doesn't after burner now show CPU core usage in game?
Surely we can use this to see thread count, or to be anal about it, start limiting core usage via process or even BIOS level

Afterburner does not work with 64 bit programs
