Righto lads, my mate decided to upgrade his rig, and wants me to build it for him!
His current specs are:
Case: Fugly ThermalTake thing
MoBo: MSI P55-GD65
CPU: Intel Core i7-860
Cooling: Scythe Mugen 2
Memory: 4GB OCZ Platinum DDR3 1333mhz
GPU: 2x 4870
HDD: Samsung Spinpoint F3
PSU: Nexus RX-85000 850w
And now the upgrade.
I suggested he'd have to buy a new case if I were to even try and build a rig for him, because working with that Thermaltake POS is something even I wouldn't take on. It has absolutely NO options for cable management, and looks tacky. I suggested the Phantom, and he loved the look of it.
Therefore, one of the parts he ordered is the NZXT Phantom (white.)
He wanted a faster, quieter rig, and while disassembling his pc (he had to send his mobo and hdd back for RMA) he somehow dropped the Mugen 2, bending it.
So, what else could I do but strongly suggest him to get the Noctua NH-D14? And so he did.
Then there were the graphics cards. They were very noisy, and he kept experiencing driver issues. That's why he decided to sell them, and asked me to suggest to him a powerful single-gpu solution. Well, I suggested the GTX 570, and in the end he went with the Palit GTX 570 Sonic. Nice card, no?
Another thing he needed was a new screen. Having seen my screen, he ordered the same one. (Samsung P2450H)
So his new parts are:
-NZXT Phantom (white)
-Noctua NH-D14
-Palit GTX570 Sonic
-Samsung P2450H
I will post pictures once he gets his parts. This will not be a huge project with mods and stuff, it's a simple straight forward build. I'll try to post as many pics as I can
Cheers.
