Bandwidth Limiting Software

Right, I've officially had enough of my sister lagging me out during CSS matches and need some sort of easy and quick to set up app that will allow me to restrict her to about 50% of our DL and 25% of our UL. Also I need to be able to hide the tray icon so nobody asks any questions

That's basically all i need out of it, although being able to set time parameters would be a bonus :)

Thanks in advance

Yea it offers High, Medium and Low priority for HTTP, FTP, Telnet, POP3, SMTP and three optional ports so im guessing just add the ports that CSS uses and put it to high priority ?

I'll give it a go but i'm not sure how effective it will be

Yep thats basically the long and short of it. However, it's not going to work in every case for you as CSS servers could be on any port (normally > 27015)

yea plus having HTTP on low priority makes pages load stupidly slow, even when steam isnt running.

back to the original plan then lol

If you have a custom firmware for the Linksys WRT54G you could setup a transparent proxy (eg: squid without caching) and just write a ssh command to enable/disable bandwidth limiting.

I used to do that on squid with my old firewall system when I had a quake3 match just so if my bro was downloading it wouldn't lag me out :)

Might be a bit involved tho. Otherwise QoS is pretty good.
