Audio problem in a case

I can't understand it, everytime I have a rig in my case the sound for some reason has a massive echo.

If I set it up as a benching rig and mobo is on a bit of cardboard the sound is spot on but as soon as I put it in a case and install windows drivers create an tunnel effect. Any ideas what gives.?

Tried biostar tp45 onboard setup, Evga 790i onboard setup and also with both rigs with sound disabled and a creative sound blaster live all have echo. :(

Each time with different sound card/onboard have a new install.

Help.!

I don't use an i/o shield in a case but as all is ok out in the open I didn't think that was an issue.

Do you think grounding is happening or not, do I need to add an earth wire or not.?

Thanks.

if you've got an IO shield it might be worth trying it, might work you never know until you try... this has to be one of the weirdest pc problems I've ever heard of though! there any other differences between your cased rig and bench setup? What case are you using?

Can't hurt to try it tbh. Nearly everything i can think of you've disproved with what you've done.

Only things left are is the front panel audio connected? Is it consistent across headphones or any other speakers? And where is the PSU in relation to the spus?

Front panel may be messing around with mic (playing the speakers down the mic lead with what you hear or w/e its called on). Speakers might be getting interference from power or something, same with spu.

Pretty long shots tbh :-/

Well, I've tried a few things and am running out of hair now

I removed my TRUE as the fan on that was causing a little bit of an issue and things improved slightly so I took it out altogether and am now using stock Intel. Slight bit of echo so I uninstalled drivers and removed the SB card.

Now running onboard with the realtek drivers (am using the Evga 790i) and sound is perfect, nice and clear, except one thing......... I can't hear any vocal now (just a whisper) and the realtek software doesn't help at all :(

Any more ideas.? I get the same in vista too.

Loss of vocals can be the card trying to emulate 5.1 for music, pushing all the voice through the center speaker. And if you've got 2 channel speakers its obviously not being produced. What kind of audio set up do you use?

Theres a setting for some onboards i encounted a long time ago called voice suppression which did as its name suggests too, maybe look for that?
