ASUS Z170 Maximus Hero VIII PCIE LANES

I'm getting all confused when it comes to the allocating of PCIE lanes on the z170 motherboard I know the 16 graphics lanes come from the CPU. Simply Can I have PCIE sound card plus M.2 X4 PCIE SSD and 3 other sata 3 drives all installed without penalty?

If you want a sound card you have to put it in one of the PCIE2 lanes. Youll have to look at your manual but there are PCIE connections that have nothing to do with the CPU

M.2 is fine thats hardwired to the chipset.

Hardrives again chipset.

I've managed to decipher the hieroglyphics that is the Asus manual and I think I'm alright from what I understand the m.2 slot is linked to the sata express lanes so if I use the full 32gps bandwidth on m.2 I lose them but I havnt even seen a sata express drive let alone will I buy one so that's fine
