asus xonar essence wont work in 4x pci-e

ok i have the gigabyte z77ud5h mobo with a 3770k cpu

my mobo pci lay out is
x1
x16
x16-x8 in sli
x4

i have a gtx 670 windforce card in pci-e x16 slot at the top pci-e

and i wanted to put my sound card in the bottom 4x pci-e slot but it wont pick it up at all

if i put the sound card in the second pci-e x16 slot its fine and works no problem

i don't want to use the 1x slot as its above the gpu and is very close to my cpu cooler what is now a prolimatech Armageddon and its the fan clip that is mm's away from touching my new sound card

has anyone got any ideas

It shouldn't be needed just for a GPU and sound card but have you tried to connect the ATX4P sata connector? its right above the sata port

well i have tried the sate power with the sound card int the 3rd slot but still don't work

with the sound card been in the 2nd pci-e slot in knock my gpu to 8x will this matter at all
