i would say to get the asus xonar, if you use headphones you will love it, my friend has one in his PC, and wow, it just makes headphones sound ALOT better. better bass notes with the headphone amp

its on deal of the week there, think its as cheep as your going to find it new. i would choose it over the X-FI

edit: i have actually just orderd one, seeing how cheap it is (my friend payed 37 pounds) i have free shipping aswel because i have been a member on there forums for a couple of years now

Asus' Xonar cards rip X-Fi's apart in everything but games, and in games they still perform very good. And if you do decide to go with an X-Fi-based card, just don't go with Creative. Get an Auzentech.

Xonar cards rip X-fi cards apart in games as well. Xonars were meant for music and movies, so it could handle a game no sweat. a Creative card may be able to play it louder but a Xonar will play it better.

i cant speak for how good the x-fi's are, but i have the asus xonar DG5.1 and it is AMAZING with headphones on, i just wish i bought one sooner, best thing i have ever bought
