Hey guys, looking to buy a new sound card but i can't decided between the Asus xonar D2x or Creative Sound blaster X-Fi titanium HD?

This is a tough one for me, need your help!!

Personally I'd take the Asus, Much better than creative in terms of drivers, Creative are too lazy to fix problems never mind releasing updated drivers/software.

Yeah I'm going to get myself an Asus D2x when I have the money which should be next month.. after that I'm going to upgrade my speakers to Z-5500's and I'm good to go

I hate the old Creative X-Fi Xtreme Audio I have now.. basically a rebranded Audigy iirc

Haven't read any reviews on the Titanium HD yet, I know the D2x is a great card though!

If you play games, I would strongly suggest the creative. The asus cards sound nice, but the driver support for 3d sound in games is pretty awful. For example, FO3, Oblivion and new vegas will all crap out within a couple of minutes, and other games will stop working all of a sudden. Coupled to the fact the floppy drive power cable keeps cutting power to the card and you have my advice:

Avoid the D2X.

Hmm, tbh im currently running the creative x-fi card that you get with the rampage II extreme and so far i haven't had a problem with it.

I want to get the best and so far i have seen the Creative Sound blaster X-Fi titanium HD.

What so you think of this one?

I had a D2X, and got rid of it. It sits in my storage server, whilst my main rig has an X-Fi titanium Fatal1ty. They don't have quite the same sound quality, but its marginal, and having decent driver support and not having the card suddenly stop working and just loop a quartre of a second of audio until I disable it is worth it.

The D2X is great if you listen to movies and music only, but the 3d game support is poor.

I have finally made my choice im going with the Creative Sound blaster X-Fi titanium HD as their drivers are great and sound is also awesome

you guys do know that there is a 7.1 surround sound add on to the Asus card right?

Where can this add on be purchased from?

lol i still haven't got my sound card yet to many to choose from, i reckon i'll with Creative as they are good all round

I have a asus xonar and have had no issues, it works a gem. I play BFBC2 in 5.1, BO, SC2 etc. I have had creavtive in the past and they are the definition of fail drivers. I also have a yamaha O1x audio interface..Floppy drive power cable? do people still use those things?

Hello there! Can I ask why you want a dedicated sound card? Also what speakers are you using? Most people can't hear the difference in conversion quality anyway so my advice would be focus on your speakers or headphones rather than converters!

If you let me know more details I shall be able to help you out more

Cheers!

Hi, Im currently using my Creative Gigaworks G500 Pro Gamer 5.1 Speakers. Im not really into using headphones and i feel that the sound card that comes with the rampage II extreme is not providing the sound quality the G500 are capable of.

If like me you like the X-fi chipset but hate Creatives drivers then I would recommend the Auzentech range of soundcards. I can't comment on the Asus range of cards as I have never used them.
