Hi guys ive just bought a Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 and a FX8350. But it seems im having a problem with the motherboard because the light on the motherboard shows a problem cpu related so it wont boot at all

So far i have reseated the cpu, checked the pins, changed the memory, checked the 24 and 8 pin and changed the cmos battery

i dont have any more am3 boards or cpu's so i cant cant check if its the board or chip is dead

any advice appreciated

Thanks

has anyone dealt with Asus's RMA ?

if i decide to RMA the motherboard I dont want another as ive read alot of other people have had the same issues mine has.

so how likely would it be if they would let me upgrade to a Crosshair V Formula Z 990FX. (i wouldnt mind paying the extra if needs be)

Hi mate it could be a memory issue there I had both the rev 1 + 2 of those boards and they can be picky about the ram see if you can borrow some different DDR3 ram from somewhere preferably some on the Qualified Vendors List

Hope This Helps

Thanks mate I'll check if any of my ram is on the list tomorrow

Will also try and flash the bios first just incase Somehow there is a rev1 bios on it

Right guys i flashed the bios with the latest bios and still didn't work, also tried to borrow more DDR3 but no one local had anything thats on the Qualified Vendors List. and really dont want to go buy any more as i allready have 16gb off new and working ram to use without spending more just to use with that board

So think im going to send it back for a refund and get i different board , Does anyone have any recommendation of a good overclocking AM3+ Board ?

Thanks

Asrock Extreme9 (none of the others are worth a toss)
Asus CHVFZ (my fave)
Gigabyte UD5.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Crosshair-F...82&sr=8-1&keywords=asus+crosshair+v+formula-z

All three are tip top, though the Asus would get my order (see if you can find it cheaper somewhere else) as it's just so easy to overclock with. The Gigabyte is good if you're a pro, though could be confusing if you've never overclocked before.

No experience with the Asrock, but it's a pretty sick board. I personally would get the CHVFZ as I have had one and it was the nicest motherboard I've ever had.

Thanks defiantly leading toward the CHVFZ at the moment

hopefully it works alot better than the sabertooth and will not have any issues, the reviews look alot better about reliability

just to update this for anyone that runs into the same problem as mine. The board was a DOA which seems a common thing with the 990 sabertooth. So instead i picked up a Asus Crosshair V Formula-Z and now everything is working perfectly.

Thank you everyone for you help and advice

:)
