Asus rog swiftt pg278q

I'm getting the Asus ROG Dominator. It may be freesync (and I'm currently running Nvidia..) but its exactly what I want. Its even pretty sutble for a ROG product, which is fantastic!

Yeah, it's between this and Swift for me... I just don't know which one, especially since I don't know what GPU I'll get later on. 390X or 980Ti, most likely Nvidia though, but not comfortable to set a mark on that :(

And why do they have to put HDMI and sticker thingys on the front bezel for?... why can't they just have a clean one like the Swift?

For me it was an easy choice as I know I want to use Physx in the upcoming Batman game and the new Mirrors Edge supposedly has it in as well.

Not a huge feature I know but it's pleasing to my eyes.

Have a look at upcoming games and what features you want.

The 980 Ti and 390X will probably be neck and neck like AMD and Nvidia always are.

I've never understood what PhysX is for and what it does lol

Well for me atleast, it's not that many games to be honest... at the moment mostly BF3 & 4, COD:AW, wanna try to get into Mirrors Edge as I do like Parkour/Free Running and the Batman games does look quite nice indeed.

So might go with yours as well it seems like...

They might be neck to neck yes... but what about the price point?, since Nvidia usually are a bit more pricey on the price tag.

Now I'm not following?...

I thought you had a 970, 290X and a 980 in the past couple of months. My point is you get through enough hardware, why do you even bother to consider the long term effects of buying said hardware. Just impulse the s*** out of it and pick up the first thing you see, like Dicehunter!

That is a fair point actually... well the first 970's and 290X were all "faulty" in the sense that they had coil whine and made noises that shouldn't been there. Even the retailers confirmed these faults.

But fair point.

This is Physx which is exclusive to Nvidia, Works through CUDA etc...

It really brings some nice eye candy to games like smoke, Debris, Cloth etc....

Perfect Examples of Physx Smoke

Perfect Example of Physx Debris

Each of those purchases was off the back of reading reviews, discussing it on the forum and then aggravating me and Feronix. They were all good products and if they were faulty most people would try another of the same. I'm not saying you shouldn't listen to other people, idk that might be the part you enjoy most. But it hasn't got you very far in hardware terms so far.

I would be repping a 980 and a Swift enjoying myself rather than sitting around crapping my pants that 4GB wouldn't cut it next year or Freesync might turn out to be better. You can always change ships down the line.

Apologies to bump up this thread now (was away for a few days to deal with some people). Chrazey, if youre tempted for the Rog Swift, Buy it straight away because its such a beautiful product that you arent going to regret your purchase one bit.
I was completely happy with it for the whole time I had one and I was sad to see it go when my friend moved out to live with his newly aquired girlfriend(****) and took his monitor with him.

when i said I like the acer better, i suspect I have a slight edge of preference for the acer purely because of its lighter AG Coating that helps the vibrancy of colors to come through. With that said, the swift's AG Coating is no where as intrusive or grainy as the dell u2711 era monitors. In either case, its like me saying I like the Lumborghini better than the Ferrari. fact is that they are both good and I cant afford either (the cars I mean. But i will someday since I'm aspiring to be a politician.)

No need to apologize my friend :) any posts are welcome, especially if it's for helping me to better come to a decision.

Your post actually made me a bit more go for the Swift to be honest with you... only thing is that IF I'd get the 390X, then the monitors price would be even more useless, due to the fact G-Sync won't work... you get where I'm going here?...

But I do understand your example though etc... it's wether which car that feels the most comfortable for me to drive, otherwise it wouldn't be worth the price tag of it.

Absolutely. I think the best wisdom here is to decide which GPU camp you want to go with - Amd or Nvidia. The monitor is just a side effect of that decision as there are some great monitors for both camps. For example, if you decide to buy the gtx 980ti, then monitor = Rog swift and if you decide to buy the amd 390x, then monitor = asus MG279q.

Exactly my final thought that I come to few days ago actually... I will wait for all the new GPUs to drop and see what the market offers, even if prices drop on the Titan X, or hell even the cut down 6GB Titan X version even. Or maybe see what the 980Ti has to offer :)

Found this one barnsley, something that is teasing or have you already gone for the ROG Dominator?...

That 4K IPS G-Sync monitor from early reports is going to be in the £1100 range.

Well what the actual f.... Within the first 24Hrs of usage my brand new swift developed a bright pixel O.o batch dec'14 ofc..
And it's not even anywhere near the bezel, it's 10cm from the bottom bezel and 20cm from the right bezel.. Not so noticable in games but on bright backgrounds, however..

Sent a mail to the store I got my stuff from. They have a 7 days doa return policy, but ofc I've been building for two weeks and a half on a custom loop. I hope they'll replace it and not start asus rma to get me a freakin refurb :/

Get a refund and stay away from the Swift dude, I went through 4 Swifts within 28 days all with problems exactly like this, 5 of my work mates are all on their 3rd or 4th Swift aswell because of defects and poor quality control.

You might get lucky and get back a perfect one but I honestly wouldn't risk it as Asus only ship out refurbs, you will not get back a new one.

The first replacement I got was a refurb and it was covered in dirt, Stunk of smoke and had really bad flickering, this replaced the original Swift which came with dead pixels and bright dots.

The 2nd replacement was a refurb and had a butt ton of dead and bright pixels.

The 3rd replacement had a bright dot in the middle of the screen and a few dead pixels on the right side of the screen.

I ended up getting a refund.

I might try it and wait how the newly announced asus screens look like.. It's a wicked screen, but just.. How is it even possible within the first 24hours of operation..

Love your new title Dice :D

Poor quality control, The Swift in retrospect was a rushed product even though they claim otherwise.

I honestly cannot recommend Asus when it comes to monitors, Get BenQ, Samsung, Anything else just not Asus.
