Impressed with this monitor. Now I know its a games monitor but I would like to know how it handles playing the odd blueray movie and basic window stuff i.e. word/excel.
Any information?

Just like any other 27" 1440p monitor ^_^

Films look good provided the viewing angle isn't too extreme (particularly vertically), the colours and contrast are great, blacks look really nice, obviously the refresh rate or gsync doesn't improve anything but all normal usage scenario's are fine and if you've never used 1440p before i'm sure you would like it from a productivity angle. Obviously it's not worth paying the massive premium if you don't intend to game with nVidia cards though.

Its a TN panel. If you're more fussed about nice image quality over gaming performance then get something with an IPS panel.

It's not quite that simple having had both an IPS Dell U2713HM and a TN ROG Swift. I'm not saying they are equal but Asus deserve some praise for what they have achieved. If you were interested in both gaming and image quality it's a far superior answer, the blacks are better with no IPS glow, the colour is close unless you are a pro obv. and the viewing angles are good, except for vertical but it's not a problem for desk usage. I agree with the if your not gaming with nVidia cards save £260 and get an IPS hence my previous comment but it's not a total turd if your after both.

Personally I am waiting around for the rumored 1440p IPS Gsync monitor that's supposed to be coming
