ASUS ROG PG278Q Swift G-Sync Monitor Review

I got the ROG Swift the other day and I am loving it. :)

I do see a crazy brightness flicker on loads in game..... I have been told this is normal

Many others seeing the flicker? How bad are people finding it?

Apparently it is an issue with G-Sync.

Not sure if it is only happening on the Swift or on all G-Sync monitors, but I have the Acer XB270HA G-Sync monitor and I haven't noticed any flickering in any games.

Ok guys,

Any other Swift owners had trouble with text blur?

i have had this once, pc was on but monitor was off. when i turned it on, i got same as you. I removed displaport cable from screen and reconnected it. Then my Nvidia stopped working but the fuzzyness was gone so i was puzzled the rest of the day

Damien..... faulty monitors as in Swifts, or other panels?

I am pretty disappointed given the panel's price tag.

Mostly other panels, I have only seen one bad swift with an issue like in your posts. However that wasn't from my store so I didn't get to play with it or do the RMA on it.

The monitors I see with the problem look as though they have tiny lines through the text. Is that what yours looks like? Or is it more like graphics pixilation?

Thanks bud. Looks like yet another RMA is the order of the day.

Having had the panel for just 3 weeks this is massively annoying. Ho hum.

just 3 weeks that is lame, at least in my experience Asus have always looked after their customers well when there is a problem.

only Issue I get now with my swift is that the pc occassionally stops recognising the monitor as Gsync, a simple reconnect of the display port fixes this.

I had flickering in first week I had it, not had the problem since. Only thing I did after that first week was to download a new colour profile from da interwebs.

The panel is being RMAd. Losing my faith LOL. Do I go for a direct replacement? Are there any comparabkr panels out there worth a look?

Acer has one similar. But Im not sure on the quality. There are two 27inch I think, one is still 1080p but the other is 1440.

Got the same problen Mullet, regardless of what Hz I'm in, the text is blurry and anything with a straight edge such as icons flcker, with my screen flashing mildly. This has just began to happen after 2 weeks use, absolutely gutted as I can't seem to find a fix.

Not good eh. For a panel of this ilk and significant cost I recon there are some techie teething issues in the mix. Mine is going back. Not sure what to do..... the 4k Acer Gsync looks a little cheap.... but is an option.

Well I just came back to my PC with the same issue on the screen.

However it happened after the screens were turned off with windows running and I noticed the screen disconnecting and reconnecting when I turned it on (I heard the windows sounds) I have never had that happen with other monitors I have had issue with, wondering if this is the case with the other Swifts having the issue?

I started on an earlier monitor and then shut down and went back to the DP port and that worked. But that could just be for the moment. The fact that the screen came back good after just physical disconnection and restart makes me wonder if it is a windows DP driver issue... although that could be hopeful wanting in the face of my screen failing.

Seriously have all three of you just had the same issue within a couple of days with slightly different aged panels? That doesn't sound like a hardware fault if that's the case, start posting some facts guys to see if there is a pattern here. OS, Graphics Driver, Age of Panel, programs where blurring occurs, anything else relevant which has happened...

Win7Pro64, 344.11, 17/9/14, no faults.

I am running latest NVidia drivers, no colour patch. Had my panel about a week. Windows 8.1 all updated and the blurring occred everywhere when it did.

I agree it happening to multiple screens around the same time is wierd. I also think windows having an issue after reconnection points to windows perhaps not treating the panel correctly. Maybe windows is dropping the gsync driver or something when the panel is disconnected, turned off or hybernated etc?

Has anyone else tried driver reinstall or starting with a diff screen and then going back to the Swift?

Windows 7 Pro 64 - Drivers 344.75 - Blur as per images (and same as Damian's). My panel was ordered on 1 December.
