Asus rog maximus viii formula

Hey guys,

So I was wondering, after seeing a picture of the motherboard with the OC3D logo on it, CAN this motherboard actually change the colour of the "post numbers" in the top right corner of the motherboard?... As I've seen several reviews saying it can't be changed from red. Yet, if my eyes are telling me correctly, it looks like they are blue and not red on this image:

If I'm wrong here, then I apologize for it... But it does look blue to me though.

Thanks,
Chrazey

It totally looks blue.

My friend bought the formula and was looking to do a purple build and couldnt find any way of changing the colour using the bios or software. He has serious build OCD so used a piece of blue transparent plastic to give it a purple ish colour

Thanks for your reply dude, so it's not just my eyes that are seeing wrong. Good to know! :)

Ohh okay, so that's what I thought then... After also confirming with another source as well, it can't be changed from red.

Kinda weird that this image with the older OC3D logo shows it changed though, kinda missleading to be honest.

Although, nice mod he did there with the transparent plastic. Was it something like JayzTwoCents mod of the EVGA SLI bridge mod, by any chance? :)

It is kind of misleading. I will check out the Jayztwocents SLI bridge mod. The post LED mod actually looks ok. I will see if i can get him to send me a pic.

Doesn't really matter to me Wraith, since I'm not the one you're missleading :)

And nice one sonicpete, quite interested to see how his mod turned out. So if you can post a pic, please do! :)

The image you have shown is one of the stock ASUS images and not one done by OC3D themselves.

The reason the image is water marked that way is due to it being from an article hosted on the OC3D server. Please don't think that it is in fact OC3D that has tried to mislead you or anyone in this situation.

I'm pretty sure for the RGB photos they were done (well simulated) digitally. They didn't actually power it on and change the colour. Pretty standard practice for all the manufacturers I've seen lately.

Yeah this is just another board manufacturer taking a photo of a board, desaturating it then adding the 'rgb' colour digitally. While it winds me up, because it's false, it's not exactly harmful or trying to deceive you. It's bad marketting if you ask me because it gives false hope for what it will look like, but that's not uncommon anyway.
