I love the Gene boards. I've been tempted to get one a couple of times, but my next build is gonna be an ultra-portable beast so I'm going mITX instead.

Would still love to see a review of this if Tom was able to sweet-talk the lovely people at Asus...

I would buy it in a flash! It's seriously a good idea though, I'm sure there's load of enthusiasts who'd love to build an extreme gaming rig in a tiny form factor!

In theory just.

Fractal claims it supports heatsinks up to 165mm in height and Noctua claim the D14 is 160mm in height with the fans on.

Would mean no side panel fan if you care about that, but I doubt most people would.

the define series look awesome but the mini's not that small, just a bit smaller than the R3.

define r3 = 21cm x 44cm x 52cm

define mini = 21cm x 40cm x 49cm

tj08b = 20cm x 38cm x 38cm

elite 340 = 20cm x 37cm x 38cm

nsk 3480 = 20cm x 35cm x 36cm

cooler master elite 340 ftw, $55 on staticice vs $140 for the define mini, h70, xfire 6990s

So its not to expensive either but it is the same price as the Fractal Design R3

I often find that small specialist cases aren't as cheap as you might think. They clearly know that enthusiasts go for them and are willing to shell out a bit more.

Over in the UK i've seen Lian Li mITX cases costing more than their ATX Mid tower ones. The mind boggles!

I'm looking at getting this mobo with a 2600k, 16gb RAM (wouldve preferred more but cant seem to find any 8GB sticks in the UK), plonk the Zalman CNPS9900-MAX Red on ( i prefer this to tower coolers, used to have the old one on my QX9650 in the past) and bundle it all into an nzxt vulcan, with my current PSU, Fans and GPU. Will be nice to be able to go to lans with out breaking my back lifting my rig :3
