Found this on OVerclock TV. i dont think it has been posted yet.

Cant realy understand the guy that much, but from what I can figure out, it is a X79 board and you need to install a 2011 cpu. after the 2011 cpu is installed then you can also install anougher 1366 cpu.

Im not sure what exactly Asus have in mined with this board. When i first saw it I was hoping for a duel socket Rog board. Like the suposed SR3 from EVGA.

Like to know what you guys think about mixing a 1366 and a 2011 cpu. And what benefits asus are hoping to get from a setup like this.

In my opinion Concept means just that. I cant personaly see any actual plus points to having a a mix match of CPU's. but i guess their is not enough information on it to judge.

makes no sense lol like where are the pci-e slots?? who'd use that kind of power for on-board graphics lol must be some kind of daughter board that goes with it that has the psi-e slots on it

I think this is old news, they displayed this about 6 months back when all the manufacturers were displaying their respective X79 board prototypes. As the 1366 i7 chips don't have a second QPI link to talk to the other CPU and the two chips will have a different QPI anyway, I can't see the point of it. I guess the idea was to be able to slot your cheap 1366 chip in then after 6 months and paying more for a motherboard, you could put in your new 2011 chip, that you could have afforded faster with a simpler board. Yeah, I'm not really impressed by it.

well read a few other reviews on it and most agree its challenging lol the pci-e slots are under the placard on the top left but they claim use the 1366 side for everyday normal stuff then switch gears to the 2011 side for more demanding tasks but still in my eyes it dont look worth the effort

old news was displayed last june asus does have a few different dual socket 2011 boards coming.. 1 work station based on the px series.. one extreme over clocker version based on the rampage 4 extreme

If one of those sockets took a dedicated graphics chip, then that would start to make more sense. I often think that when ATX is dead and gone that motherboards will be produced that would have 2 sockets on - one for the CPU, the other for the GPU and a dedicated memory bank for each. Don't know how the marketing boys would sell it though - Graphics cards are a lot sexier than a plain old chip.

The blue themed dual 2011 socket board would be their workstation one right?

I wonder how the extreme dual 2011 socket version will look like, im guessing more rampage 4ish but with beefier heatsinks

What makes me laugh is the 2011 socket doesnt have heatsink mounting holes, its too close to the ram slots

but it was a concept so i dont it mattered or they didnt notice

lol actually it does look closer... socket 2011 do not mount threw the motherboard... they have threaded risers that attach to the preattached top/bottom plate

The 2011 socket has the mounting holes on the socket itself...you can see them clearly. But still, both sockets are way too close to the RAM slots. As you said though, just a concept. I don't think we'll ever see this board on the market.

I what Asus should do is keep a similar design to this and release a enthusiast/overclocking dual 2011 board like the SR-X from EVGA

It would be nice to see a high performance dual socket board from ASUS. But I don't think anyone could do it better than EVGA if I'm honest, they just know how to make it look wonderful and they have the performance card, too. D:

Yup no one does em like EVGA

asus already has two coming... ones red and black bassed off the r4e for extreme overclocking / world records and a blue and white one based off the p9x aka a work station board built for per stablity... see other threads on here for pictures

i do find it ironic though that on the top right corner of the board it says "god bless japan"
