Looks really good.

Maybe change the orientation of the PSU though, I hate seeing stickers :)

Other than that it looks really good

Edit: didn't read that it was for your dad, so the psu thing probably doesn't matter too much :)

Did you dad really need a gaming system though? I want him as my dad

Hey, I completely agree, I always install powersupllies fan up in my own builds. Not entirely sure why I didn't this time to be honest, but it has been bugging my ever since, and even my dad has mentioned he would like to flip it, so I may to that later on today actually.

Yeah my dad is really awesome--ever since 1995 when he got a PC laptop he has been into hardware. In 1998 he built his first custom system and he has been doing a new custom system every couple of years since then. Usually I just help him with his builds but this time I did all of it since he was extra busy during the time this was built.

So, when's your dad signing up?

I don't know, he doesn't really do much stuff on the internet, really. He did some forum stuff in the past but not much anymore.

But I figured since I have been sort of going through some of the systems I have built recently I thought I would share this one as well. I have have some more low budget ones coming up that I have been working on.

Looks great, always love to see X79 builds. You should seriously consider getting some Bitfenix cable extensions though, I believe the 24pin extensions cost $9 each (that's how much mine were) and they use really nice fabric feeling sleeving without heatshrink so they feel and look fantastic.

nice looking rig... i like it :)

Thank you!

X79 definitely is a lot of fun to work with--so much power. I am familiar with the bitfenix extensions, but I would not use them personally 1 because I dont like the extra length, and 2 because I dont like the feeling of things being "tacked on" which is what those feel like to me.I just dont like the idea of adding extra onto a cable like that. If it was a corsair power supply I would consider replacing the cables with the corsair braided cable kit, but this system is my dad's and he is fine with it the way it is, so I'm not doing anything more with it for now.

Nice machine, though I find the noctua colours messing with the scheme D:

Personally I don't like red (very much) and I much prefer earth tones. That's why I like the Asus Sabertooth boards for myself personally. If iI was doing myself an X79 build I would use the Sabertooth X79 along with Noctua fans, etc. We used this board for this build because my dad wanted something very high end and the Rampage board is one of the best if not the best X79 motherboard as far as I know.

I also want a so a dad... mine just put pc on doubble click battlefield and want to play every time he see error he shout "Curtis" but doesn't get the point that R 20 000 = performance.
