Hi

I'm having a problem with my new asus rampage iii extreme.

when i turn it on it will start to go through the post procedures, first it will light up the CPU light, then the ram light, then the vga light(now the cpu fan ramps up to full speed), them the boot device light, then it gives a beep through the speaker. then the screen comes on and it will freeze at the point that it shows how much ram is installed and wont go any further. I have tried using each indevidual stick on its own and having them all in together, I've tried reseating the video card and changing which bios im booting from. I'm at a loss of what to do next.

CPU: i7 950
MB: Rampage III extreme
RAM: 3x2gb Corsair Dominator GT 2000MHz 8-8-8-24
Video card: Saphire Radeon HD 3450

Yep i've tried everything. with and without kb and mouse. with and without ssd. with as many different ram configs as i can do with the hardware i have available to me

It may be a long shot, but it shows your CPU and RAM and not your GPU. What happens if you take out the card?

Also, what power supply do you have?

when I take the card out it gives a beep code for a missing video card, i have tried more than one card. the power supply i'm using is a corsair cx500m

Do you have any memory other than the Dominator memory? Mine did not like the 1600mzh Corsair stuff at all. I switched back to some 2000mhz Gskill Trident, and it worked like a charm. Just for giggles, where are all the pci-e switches set?

The Corsair worked great in my MSI board, but the Rampage just did not agree with it.

Try switching to the second BIOS

He already said in his first post that he tried switching to the second BIOS chip.

try taking the card out and using the onboard graphics

It doesn't have onboard graphics. This is X58.

What is the voltage requirement on that RAM? Is it possible the RAM wants 1.65v but the system is defaulting to a lower voltage causing it not to finish posting?

Do you have any other RAM to test?

The RAM is 1.65v but i've also tried with a stick of 4GB 1333MHz 1.5v and still no change

I think you've tried everything and ruled out all the components except the motherboard. Time to RMA it if you're able.

I think I saw him post in another thread where he said that the bought the board used without testing it first. Maybe this is just an expensive lesson for next time :(
