Asus R9 290 OC DCU II Errors

For me 14.4 drivers have been the best for my r9 290 so far,tho as i have said in a different post i had to take the gpu memory from 1250 to 1200 to create a stable pc, i find that the factory overclock has issues.

As a few others above have said it's probably a BF3 issue, Google it so that you don't waste your time re-installing windows.
I was searching BF3 DirectX crash and there is countless information about this with many different cards. There is no one solution. It looks this is broken BF or something else.

This is sick :) maybe i try it also.

If fresh install doesn't help i will change this card to another maybe GTX 780.
Also in Crysis 3 88 C is high. Backplate is very very hot that i can't even touch it. My case is open for now.

The Asus DCII R9 290/290x is not the best thermal performer so 88c is pretty normal. I'd also not recommend touching the card when it is on, someone fried a 780ti on here recently by doing that :P.

I remember reading that, poor guy :D
As for my MSI GTX 660 OC, I LOVE IT! I know it's not high end, but I always thought I couldn't even afford it, haven't properly oc'd yet though.
Back on topic: I hope that bf3 is the problem, and not the card, good luck man.

Thank's guys for help. I have installed newest drivers. And i updated directx. And there is no more any error for now. But im not happy with temps. On BF3 88C byt Crysis 92C. Also i have shadow artifacts in metro Last Light and it doesn't work well. I have ten days to swap this card to another one. I can change it to another R9 maybe TRI-X or VAPOR-X or i was wondering about Palit GTX 780 Super JetStream. What do you think guys?

290s in general are faster than 780s. I would stick with the Tri-X cooler over the Vapor X. Also another very good card is Powercolor's own PCS+ cooler seems to do very well, this card is probably the closest competitor to the Tri-X cooler.

I'm pretty sure that you can turn the fan speed up if you arent happy with the temps, Just like the stock cooler ;) WATERCOOLING FTW!

Also on a more serious note, did you make sure to do a complete driver sweep and removal of the driver for the previous card you had installed? I know your errors gane, just curious.

@flynnb03 - Does your 290 use elpida or Hynix? As apparently the factory OC didnt play well with some of the elpida models. Though I have a Hynix and elpida 290x and I love the elpida one, memory can OC higher than the hynix one and both oc past 1300mhz core, talk about luck xD.

@Newbie_NS810 i have the hynix version and have had many many probs, getting to this stage, still not 100% but getting there

I see, thats unfortunate. I havent actaully encountered anyone with problems on the Hynix version, there were rumors that AMD OC'd the 290x to its limit, which seem to hold true to some extent.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that some people found that upping the volts a tad did help their cards, though kinda sad that you would have to do this just to get a stable factory OC.

OH and forgot to mention you are now special to me, being the first one I have encountered to have an issue with hynix on this model ;)
