ASUS PG348Q 34" ROG Swift Monitor Review

It is really a nice screen and I was looking forward to the release of it the first time I saw it announced. But there's one thing I wonder about: With what type of display can you pair this to get a proper dual-screen setup?

Two of these are obviously not gonna cut it, this would be way too wide. Maybe a 27" 1440p screen? Is there something like this from ASUS with equal specs and the same styling?

Right now I'm using a PLP setup with a 30" DELL (2560x1600) accompanied by two 20" Dell (1600x1200) screen in portrait mode. They match their pixel pitch almost perfectly, which is a must using multi-monitor setups.

I'm also not quite sure the reduced height (1600p vs. 1440p) will bothering me that much or not while reading web pages or doing some coding?!

34s are usually around the same physical height and Vertical res (and therefore pixel density) as a 27" just with extra width. Just make sure you match the resolutions 3440 - 1440p and 2560-1080p panels

Some may vary slightly though. That being said - If you're going PLP then you won't really get anything to match but if you just want two or even three Landscape monitors look at the 27" 1440s

Of course you may not find one that matches the new 'style' of this Swift.

Not sure you'd need to pair a 34" to anything to be honest.

Even pairing a 34" to a Dell 30" is bordering on the ridiculous. Also, the 34" curved monitor is the first I've actually tilted from vertical to get the sweet spot - this will be difficult with multiple monitors. I'll post a pic and show you it paired to a 30".

My old 30" is redundant and rarely use it any more, thinking of taking it in to work and use it there instead!

I just cracked, and placed an order for one. It'll be an upgrade from my Dell U2711 and U2311H I have together. Can't wait to get my hands on it. It's an expensive hobby, but it since it's pretty much my only one - so be it!

With an ultrawide screen, I guess a dual-screen setup will suffice. No need for PLP. Too bad ASUS hasn't a standard 16:9 27" display to match the style of this 34" screen though (yet? ;)).

I'm not planning on pairing the 30" DELL to this, just wan't to exchange my monitors to new ones (preferably with higher refresh rates/gsync). With that being said, I just need a second screen. No matter how large the screen area is or how much pixel there are on the screen, a second screen does always add due to the physical separation of the screen areas. Even when gaming, a second screen with Teamspeak, chats or just a browser is very beneficial.

That pic side-by-side with a 30" would be very appreciated though, just for comparison.

Yeah you may be lucky if they do a refresh of the other Swift?

It might be a bit cheeky posting a pic of the X34 in a thread for the PG348Q ROG, but you asked and it'll serve as a comparison :).

Both monitors are displaying the same background image so you can see difference in height and how much gets chopped of the left and right on the Dell.

Like I said, overkill. The 30" rarely gets switched on; I don't need that much desktop space and it usually displays a blank screen during games so it's pointless using it for system monitoring (there may be a setting in the control panel to fix this though).

When I use the X34 I miss the height of the 30" Dell and when I use the Dell I miss the width of the X34! However, I do prefer the screen of the X34 - it's just more sharper, cleaner and has a less aggressive anti-glare coating than the Dell, and not forgetting G-Sync as well :).

Sidenote - How good does Parallel look!

I prefer the extra width as well (Don't own one just looked at them at the store) and for Flight/Space/Driving sims it's brilliant.

Acer or Asus either would be awesome.

Cheers Jimma, I just need to find time to finish it, or rather time when I'm not using the pc :).

Thanks for that picture, it actually tells a lot. I assumed the 34-incher is much wider, but on that picture, it looks rather small compared to the 30" or at least not as wide as I thought it would.

The specs say screen area of the Dell is 641.28mm x 400.8mm. The ASUS spec page unfortunately doesn't say anything about screen size other than 34", but I figured it must be 799.8mm x 334,8mm calculated from the pixel size of 0.2325mm.

641mm -> 799mm is considerably larger.

While the specs of the monitor are nice the stand is beyond tacky !

They should have stuck to the Swifts type of styling for the monitor arm and base, Much more professional and sleek looking IMO.

Question

Is it possible to have a Xbox One connected through the HDMI? Obviously have the PC connected to the display port. Just curious if I could use both on this monitor

What would you use as Audio output if using HDMI? The monitor has no speakers im aware of.

edit*
Seems it does have a 2watt speaker
