Asus P8Z77-V Support Disk Driver....Full Out Fart!

OK so built new system using Asus P8Z77-V Motherboard, everything was working fine after I downloaded windows 8 OS. Went to install the drivers on the support disk that came with the Asus motherboard and now shes pooched, just loads to windows instantly and tries to do a system restore! Don't know why the boards own drivers would disable my computer????? Any ideas how to fix it

Which drivers exactly?

You should never use the motherboard disk.
Download the drivers straight from the internet so they aren't out of date.

I have the Deluxe version and pretty much all the features actually work without the official drivers. I mean, even wifi worked automatically.

I'd uninstall everything, and then only reinstall stuff from their website that you actually need - ie, chipset drivers, sata 6, USB3...
Half their software is terrible and you don't need it anyway.

System Restore finally brought her back then I just reinstalled windows 8 and wiped it clean with a fresh install. Found out Windows 8 doesn't need any of the drivers from Asus and running the utilities can screw up windows 8...some top shelf stuff from Asus!!! lol

That's what I don't get how can the features on the board work without the drivers installed??? Are the Asus boards that good!!!

Erm, windows has had its own default drivers for things - hence why sound will always work since like Windows XP without special drivers, and also GPUs at very basic resolutions without drivers.
With Windows 8, default driver support has got a lot lot better and is now able to handle some on board wifi and other more 'advanced' features.

Most of the time you still probably should install the official Asus drivers, but for things like onboard sound I don't bother.
On a clean install, see how things go without, then decide what you need. The Asus software itself is terrible - all of Ai Suite is gash and hardly works, and Asus Probe has always been about 30 degrees C out in temperatures at the very least, so definitely give that a miss.

The windows drivers will also effect performance, things like AHCI for your SSD's will be slower on these driver, just create a system restore point beofre installing and that way you can always revert.

I have the same board as you and the windows AHCI driver caused my SSD to run at half the read/write speeds!

I called Asus and Microsoft about the issue and they both told me that they are not needed and if I try to download them I could screw up my system again. Asus didn't even want me to download the latest bios driver (1908)! Microsoft told me if something isn't running at an optimal level windows 8 will basically let me know. All new software for me guys, last OS I installed was windows XP and yes I installed all the drivers from Asus on that build with no problems. I still think I should atleast have the latest Bios for my system but the manufacturers are telling me otherwise :banghead:

That sounds like Microsoft spiel to me lol 'Windows will tell you if it's not running optimally' yeah, with a blue screen of death and a slap round the unhelpful popup message face.
