Asus Maxiums VI Impact or MSI Z87I AC Gaming

Long time reader first time poster.

I'm currently in a dilemma regarding either choice and I can't quite seem to be able to make a decision. Either board will be paired with a 4770K, and while I like the ascetics of the Impact, the raw performance of the AC Gaming is nothing short of exceptional. I hope Tom is almost finished with his testing of the Impact so I can get a better idea of the direction I should go in.

Any additional feedback would be much appreciated.

Hope everyone is enjoying their holidays.

Then you've answered your own question, no? ;D

What do you personally rate higher - performance, or aesthetics? Honestly I don't think mobo's are going to have that much say over your rig's finished performance, so I'd go for the prettiest board every time.

In that case, make sure you get all your parts matched up to the Impact colour scheme to make it look awesome when it's all built!

I have and then Tom drops the bomb with the review of the AC Gaming. Now I'm unsure of if I've made the right choice. I'll start a build log once I have all of the components.

The one thing that really did break the deal for me with the Ac Gaming was the placement of the 8 pin connector. There's just no way to make a cable run in a prodigy look satisfying.

Tom: Hope you can get to it provided that you have enough free time.
