ASUS launches their FX series of external HDD with Aura Sync

We still need RGB cable combs, RGB Glass side panels, RGB water in our AIO's and RGB cases and by RGB cases I mean fully transparent cases with RGB strips throughout !

Begun the RGB wars have.

What a shambles Asus, usb 3.1 gen1 , looks like the crapp'est company in the world just got a bit crappier ! !

Asus is losing my respect FAST. They still make the best motherboards out there without question IMO, but all this extra crap needs to stop. They're going the same route as Corsair, launching tons of cheap products made of low-grade Chinesium. Who the hell needs RGB sync'ing on all the crap?!?!

This is them trying to diversify into new markets and I don't feel they can bring anything unique. If anything this is just diluting their brand image.

Well, how does one innovate in the external hard drive market? Also remember that this is an ASUS product, not ROG.

ASUS is an extremely diverse company, one of the largest in the industry, so trying to make a little bit of everything under their brand name is to be expected. We can see the same things with Razer, Corsair and some of the other big brands.

What would be cool, In my opinion, Is an external 2TB NVME drive in a full aluminium enclosure that acts as a passive heatsink with USB type c, The enclosure would have the ROG Mayan pattern but not lit up, A sort of darkened metal, Just a small plexi ROG eye in the corner as a red activity LED.

Adding RGB to already existing things is not innovation, it's stagnation. It shows that these clowns are just about out of ideas.

What they need to start doing is hiring people with new ideas, Move the old design teams onto something different.

Or how about this: just focus on CREATING good products rather than focusing on SELLING them. Too many companies are making that mistake these days, just ensuring that all the trendy "key" features are listed on their product descriptions, rather than focusing on the quality of the hardware, QC, etc.

Well, nobody commands you to buy it, right? I think it looks cool. Minimalistic, yet with a little extra. Also, you can always turn the illumination off.

The whole point of this silly product is the RGB. If you are going to disable it, then there is no point buying it. I think Lacie still produce nicer and more mimalistic external drives than this. And far cheaper too.
