ASUS GTX970 Turbo SLI

Oh lord is that pretty!

Would have been perfect had they included a full length backplate that stood off the PCB slightly.

The backplate from the Direct CU Mini looks like it would be a perfect fit. I know it's not white but the contrast would look good and gives you flexibility to only mount it on the top card or both depending on the spacing. Also wouldn't affect the blower.

Not that I have anything to go by right now apart from the pics in the review (youtube is blocked at work and I've run out of phone data ) but the mounting holes look about the same. Maybe someone can confirm.

Would be nice if Asus could sell the backplates separately in white or black. Would be cool.

They look Really really good, but the small culprit is it not having a backplate, i think asus could have nicked the same plate from the 970 mini it would look fantastic.

I like the contrast the short pcb brings, infact i think the card needs it to break its own color scheme a bit, but a plate would have made it probably one of the best looking cards out there., then again it is a lot cheaper then most other 970's, fine balance there.

I owned two of these for a very short time. I decided to return them because the fans would make the plastic shroud rattle really loud when the fan rotation went up/down in speed.

It's possible I've been unlucky, but from my own experience with AMD reference cards and nVidia GTX 680's, those shrouds are the worst idea ever. Do yourself a favour and get one with a double blower fan, like the 970 Strix.

if it was me, I'd put a couple coats of matt lacquer on the plastic to stop it looking shiny and 'cheap' (as others have mentioned) I think that would just finish these off along with some form of backplate :)

pedant?

Ok, this may be overly pedantic but bar graphs don't work well when they're scaled to make a 4% difference look like 5x as much as something else; other than that these would look nice in white windowed R5 case.

Might have to consider this for my new build, although I'm going ATX. Might look a little funny in there on a full board lol.
Have to wait for bench results before I make the choice though.
