With a all new cooling design and a Factory Overclock is over 200MHz above reference, the ASUS GTX 980Ti Strix is GPU which demands our attention. Let's have a look

It would look nicer if the GPU core backplate was black. That tiny red square doesn't really fit well with the rest of backplate as it's the only red and looks out of place/afterthought

Exactly my thought... I don't like this whole red and black, ROG theme going on with what looks like every brand is going for these days. Go with all black, like the old Strix (although a bit of red on the fans, but that was overlooked in my opinion).

I'm torn between liking the new design and also thinking it took it away from the Strix series. However, performance is more important than looks imo, and we're not going to see the fan side anyway once installed.

WOW! great looking card with great specs, would agree with some other folk and have to make the red black or titanium for myself but still.... niiice!

I have been in two minds about getting a Ti this only makes the decision harder.

My dilemma has been would spending this amount on a card, this awesome, be the right thing to do with the next generation Pascal GPU's coming next year with 3D memory etc?

Either way its still a great card.... dribble!

Get a Fury X with HBM if you are that keen on stacked memory..

What worries me the most is the lack of RAM cooling. Seems to be the same general design as the Matrix coolers, which also lacks RAM cooling. I really dislike this. It's possible that ASUS feels RAM cooling is overrated, however it certainly doesn't make me feel comfortable buying graphics cards with this design any longer.

And yes, get rid of the red colors :)

I don't understand what the obsession is with cooling VRAM. 99% of all GPUs have a massive chunk of it on the back side of a card left un-cooled.

It's always been known that cooling any sort of memory is purely cosmetic.

I haven't had a graphics card with memory modules on the backside of the card in ages. Sure Titan models have that, and some others. But it's certainly not 99% of them.

Cosmetic or not, it surely doesn't hurt to cool the VRAM for overclocking purposes. Why else would anyone buy these custom cards?
