ASUS/DFI X2/Opteron dual core question

You sure you want an Expert? From what I`ve read, id consider the Expert scarier than setting up phase for the first time.

I know some people have had problems with this motherboard but others say it`s a great motherboard,as ive never done much overclocking the older board is ment to be harder to set up is it not?

I like ASUS boards but from what ive been reading about DFI is the was to go if phase cooling is going to be used,i did have the new ASUS 32 board but didnt like the way it was layed out with the pcie slots.

To be honest mate the SLI-DR and the SLI-DR EXPERT are virtually the same. Just a few minor changes to the jumpers and the way the RAM voltage works I think. The clocking in the BIOS is pretty much the same I think.

It's up to you which board you go for as it's your system in the end. I'm sticking with what I know works well for the time being tho and thats the SLI-DR.

The main reason im looking at the EXPERT is the way the cpu face`s up&down as the other model is on its side, would this be ok for mounting the head from the mach 2 as im going to mount the unit ontop of a lian li case.

Yea it's fine. Mav, scorchio and a few others on here use the SLI-DR with no probs at all. Scorchio has a chilly head but the others don't, I know mav doesnt for definate.

then again if you have PCI cards the expert has more useable slots. Best designed board available imo.

No point havint it if it will blow my cpu up tbh m8:wink:

what lian li case are you planning to put on top of the mach 2 gt? Ive got a lian li pc65b on top of my mach 2 gt and the side panel doesnt fit on due to the vapo pipe sticking out to far because of the placing of the cpu socket on the motherboard.
