ASUS details their RX Vega Strix series GPUs

The 290X Matrix Platinum was horrendous, It was a flamethrower and made the window of my case hot to the touch.

The 980 Matrix Platinum I had decided 1 day that all the fans would stop spinning.

The first 980 Ti Matrix Platinum I had blew up 5 minutes after instaling it, Something by one of the power connectors made a bright white flash, Puff of magic smoke and a smell of death.

From my own experience Asus have had terrible quality control but it got REALLY good with the GTX 10 series.

Haha and let's not start on their "high end" monitors :lol:

Yeah that seemed to be about the general consensus with those cards. Weird, because they've made a few crackers over the years !

They both are not that great. I've used both. ROG is much worse than Strix ironically. And the Strix looks good but it ends there.

Now that ROG and Strix have merged we now have less to choose from, Not a good thing IMO.

I think it was just a rough patch, The ROG versions of the 7970, 290X, 780 Ti, 980, 980 Ti were just not fully thought through and I think, Judging by my own experience with them, They cut a few corners in quality control and quality of materials.

Love my Strix 980s but looking to a card with more memory for my stupid resolutions. I've had zero problems though so maybe I'm lucky or maybe they sorted things out.

Interestingly I'm just noticing price drops on all NV cards except the 1080Ti. I'm guessing they're: a) actually worried about Vega and b) finally dropping their prices to where they should be.

I can't blame them for charging insane money for their cards when there's no competition so if they're seeing the 64 as a real 1080 competitor and pricing accordingly that's a good thing for everyone in my books.
