ASUS announce their Zenbook 3 Deluxe UX490 laptop

really, I hope they at least had the sense to place the TB3 ports the same distance apart as the macbook, so all those multi dongles we've been seeing will work for both...

Needless to say, I'm clearly not the target market for this, too many peripherals I'd want to plug in. Not least of which is an Ethernet cable!

Think I still prefer the XPS 13. Although this does look like the first competent competitor to the XPS.

Asus are quickly becoming a household name in the UK mainly thanks to selling loads of laptops through PC World who advertise on TV. Only cheap things but yeah, they're definitely putting their name out there.

In the US they have a particular SKU that is selling by the loads. It's a "budget" laptop for around $350. It's a great great laptop. Got nothing against them personally. I got one for my sister recently, she loves it.

But for the high end market, imo Dell is king. XPS is just that good. But for gaming there are better options. Just for what I need and what I think most people need, the XPS 13 is perfect.

Yeah Dell make a solid laptop. The couple I have had over the years have been very well built and their warranty is superb.

Which model? PM if you'd prefer it's a bit off topic - I'm after a relatively cheap laptop for when I'm not on my rig - which is not a lot but sometimes the missus needs me to be more 'sociable' ;)
