ASUS Announce their new 990FX TUF Sabertooth R3.0 AM3+ Motherboard

I REALLY hope Asus don't put RGB's on future Sabertooth Intel boards, It's one of the big selling points of the boards being completely stealthy looking, No flashing lights or any childish looking bling.

Does it matter as long as you have an option to turn them all off?

Totally agree. I wish Asus would be faster on mATX boards also. Rocking the Z87 Gryphon for a media/file server/htpc and the Z97 model for my workstation. Love the no frills approach to keep cost down while usually providing good quality audio solution and very solid platform management options.

I do question the need for an update so close to the anticipated Zen release.

Waaaaaaaaait that name is wrong, the 3.0 version was that with the PLEX chips that gave it pcie 3.0 capabilities

Also, I don't see why asus produces a motherboard for the 990fx that is going to be THAT expensive, I mean sure usb 3.1 and m.2 is something that other companies have implemented on the 990FX chipset but at a lower price to catch the attention of gamers -mostly- And they took the PS/2 port away..

soo umm yeah I don't see the point..

Yes increases price and makes the boards PCB look less black since they have to add more stuff. I miss the look of nearly all black PCBs where minimal silver and chips where shown. Z97 boards pretty sure started that.

I don't understand why they are doing this when Zen launches soon and renders the whole FX series of CPUs obsolete!

I have the feeling that ASUS is trying to out do MSI in terms of over doing it with the LED so yes i think the Sabertooth will end up having LED's cause the what people want.

How about for the people who don't want them at all, I'm getting fed up with people in general "Saying you can turn them off" It's not the point some motherboards are meant to have LED's at all namely the sabertooth.

Exactly...

Why should I have to pay the extra cost for RBG LEDs when I dont want them in the first place. That is how I see it. Yes I can turn them off, but when you get charged XX over the top for a feature you don't want or will never use, then what is the point?

I will shop elsewhere for something that gives me what I want. So goodbye MSI and ASUS for sure. Unless they release a sensible and tasteful product.

Because they're still selling. They wouldn't make a board that doesn't sell.

I know in the UK AMD CPUs are pretty heavily frowned upon but out in the states they sell quite well. Especially budget stuff like the FX 6300 because Intel still don't make a dual core with HT unlocked CPU.

Correct me if I'm wrong but you can get the i5 4460 and a budget b85 gaming board for less money than an FX6300 and a sabertooth board.

I 100% agree with this.

Companies are just going stupid in terms of LED's, If a company is going to put LED's on a motherboard make the damn motherboard completely black don't add any extra colours.
