ASUS have announced the introduction of their passively cooled EN9600GT Silent which incorporates their V-Cool Heatsink design. They say it can reduce temps by up to 10°C over standard stock coolers.

The question is, do we believe them?

Good for HTPC owners :)

My thinking exactly..

I wouldn't have posted it had it been a normal 9600 as we all know about them but this is something I hadn't seen yet.. What with it proving to be great value for money it would be sweet for the silent lovers.

Hmm i had a passively cooled card before, a 7950gt infact and it was cool, but only with a fan placed somewhere near it.

These passive cards need pretty good airflow, which in the main part means more fans which kinda cancels out the noise they dont make.

I did think of that earlier but good airflow doesn't have to mean noisy fans.. Plus when a GFX card gets going its not only that they can be loud its the pitch of the noise that get annoying.. No such problems with passive I spose.

I spose its only gonna apply for the small few.. Just depends if there are enough of the few to make it a winner.

I'm sure there's a market for this - if it was more powerful I'd be part of it.

Obviously only works with good airflow - otherwise the case fans, cpu fan etc are working harder.

Nowt new about passively cooled graphics cards - but I know people who'd be into this, at the right price.

Na again not new tech.. Well apart from the design but is it the most powerful passively cooled card? I'd imagine so.

Aint these the ones that are meant to scale pretty damn well in Sli? Or am I just making that up?
