ASUS 939 Mobo

Sup everybody.

I want to get a new mobo, and was just looking at prices everywhere.

Right now i have an HP mobo, it was an hp computer i upgraded. So this would be the last upgrade, and then i can finally oc!

now i went to NCIX, and saw these 3 mobo's

ASUS A8N-SLI SE- $100

Which one of these would be best for my scenario, to oc, and have that SLI spot open just incase, i realy didnt wana spend more than $100, but is the advantages of the premium worth it?

Go for the delux if you can strech too it. 8 phase power.

For those prices I would get a DFI. (and try to spend much closer to the $100- 130 range)

Like the Ultra D (forget SLI till you see what happens with DX 10)

thing is, i have 4 sticks of ram, and i read on diy-street that DFI mobo's are really picky wit ram, so i really dont wan't too much trouble, for a little upgrade

Dude, go for the DFI. If it dosn't like your ram sell your old stuff and buy some new stuff with the money from that.

Edit -> Advanced to change the title. DFI board will seem confusing at first but you will get too grips with it and it will yeild you the highest overclock you will get.

And just so you know I am 1 notch below retarded when it comes to Programming and OCing..

I have used 4 different DFI mobos and never had 1 problem with any of them.

I have used PQI, Corsair, Geil and no name memory on them and they always worked perfectly.

AUTO is your friend...

2x Kingtson and 2x Micron memory, i have read on their forums that u need excact memory timings, speeds and SPD or somthing

If your worried about the procedue buy a $15 mobo/cpu/ram combo off ebay and practice with that. But the trick is to just take it easy, ground yourself sufficently and be careful.

The DFI is the best ocing board there is.

Its not hard at all mate. As long as you do everything by the book, carefuly, you won't have problems.

The cool thing is if you buy good stuff (DFI LP) its easy to sell later if you get in over ur head.

Its pretty simple, you shouldnt have to mess with anything in the bios. just plug it together and go.

Later on if you feel adventurous you will be able to OC to the moon...

If you're using 4x512MB you'll need to use 2T (in the bios, disable Command Per Clock). You may be right about DFI not liking Kingston, but your best bet is to look around and see if anyone else got it to work.

This is DFI's guide to overclocking. It's where I started when I had never o/ced before. Give it a read and you can ask questions after.
