Hey guys and ladies,

I have a little question. What boards in your opinion are better? Those made by ASRock or Gigabyte?

I am going to build a new pc soon and can't really decide which board to pick.

I was considering Gigabyte GA-Z77XUD5H and Asrock Z77 Extreme6.

Which one do you think I should pick?

The computer I am gonna build will be for gaming mostly. Moreover I most likely won't be overclocking it too much.

Gigabyte = better quality, lasts longer = better investment
 
Used to be a Gigabyte fan after you couldn't get ABit anymore.

Since efi, I've gone ASRock as they're much easier to mess with.

Can't say anything bad about the Gigabyte mobos, as I still purchase them for older kit, just ASRock are better right now for me, since the z68.

If the z77 Ex6 is anything like the z68 Ex7, there's no question.
 
I've been a Gigabyte fanboy for ages, but I have to say I've just got an ASRock Extreme 4-M for a cheap rig, and I'm quite impressed. UEFI BIOS is pretty decent, though seems to only work with mouse, not mouse/keyboard like my X79-UD5 (actually, my mouse is a bit flaky in the UD5 BIOS, but that might just be the mouse itself).

Best bet would be to compare the features side-by-side carefully, check some reviews, then go with what fits best within your budget. Especially for a gaming rig, if getting the Gigabyte means dropping the graphics card down a bit (ie. 7970 to 7950 or 680 to 670) then most will advise getting the cheaper board and better GPU.
 
Just to clarify Asrock is ASUSs secondary company.

I'm an ASUS fanboy. But very disappointed in my Z77 board. However I am hearing a lot of people having issues with MSI,ASUS and Gigabyte Z77 boards with sandy bridge.

I can't fault ASUS and their quality is brilliant. I just think Gigabytes look really cheap and horrible because they seem to always want to stick loads of blue all over the place. ASUS do tend to do the colours I like.

But it's more than colours its quality, and ASUS do quality and they do it very well. They are also nearly always the first to develop new things and they were the first brand to do 3 way SLI (they used 580s) and a few

other cool things. I am close to changing to a different manufacturer if my problems persist but I love the look of the new MSI Military class, They are 100% worth a look.
 
Has been running Gigabyte and EVGA for a long time and Gigabyte motherboards never failed me once, EVGA has dropped the bar with the SR-2 which is total poop. So Gigabyte has the best bet, and if you do decide to overclock Gigabyte motherboards overclock like stink! Asrock got looks will give em that.

Was gonna start a new thread, but since its so similar i figured id just hijack this one instead haha ^.^

After a LOT of research, looking at z68 vs z77, i figured it would be best to get something thats set up for the future. Ideally i wanted to spend around £130, but ive basically come to choosing between the Asrock Z77 extreme 6, which is £152 on scan, or the Gigabyte Z77X-UD3H for £128. Is the Asrock worth the extra money? I wanted to get a bit of a black/red theme going on so the Asrock is winning on the colours front atm.

The only other one i was considering was the Gigabyte Z68X-UD5-B3, for like £117, but like i said, id rather get something more upto date.

Asrock are not a company that makes poor quality cheap mobos, yes that do have a very crap cheap line of h61 boards(IMO) but not all of their boards are bad

They haven't been for a long time now.

Think people are hanging on to very old informations.

Even then, back in the day, ASRock used to be the go-to people when you needed an older socket mobo that was reliable and everyone else stopped making them. These days, Gigabyte have that crown for me. Loving their 775 matx mobos.
 
lol i came on here with the same question, ASrock or asus lol. but seeing that they are the same company.

i want a ROG board but all i can find (just been looking today) is the miniATX board for z77.

Looking for a decent upgrade now so my gpus can scale better, my AMD chip fails, i waited for bulldozer (fail) now ivy which im really tempted to jump onto.

would you guys recomend a ASrock board or should i wait for a decent ROG board to come out that i can fit my stuff onto?
