Around £1500 for a build! Help me spend it!

mate ultimately this is going to be your rig and you mentioned you want it to last for a few years. If you want a 3770K and 680 go for it. I see nothing wrong with it. Can you get the equal performance out of the other parts ??? sure ya can as alot have said you can oc the 670 to equal the performance of the 680 easy enough. but if your going to oc the gpu why not oc the 680 and get even more?? Sure there are pro's and cons for every situation. Whose to say next month you might start doing something that hyper-threading will help with so why not get the 3770K and have it at ur disposal immediately instead of doing a head slap and having to buy a new cpu later. Sam with the GPU if you want the 4GB 680 i say get it as it fits your budget.

I'm sorry but I'm an enthusiast and I want the most I can get out of the best product I can get not buy the lower part and oc it to get to the higher part. I want to go beyond the higher part. its starting to chap my arse abit all of y'all taking it so far as to take 3 pages to convience someone to buy what YOU think is better, when its clear and said several times that the poster wanted the 680 and 4GB of mem.

I'd get the 670, 680 is alot of money for very little performance but it is your computer and also your choice. Everything else looks alright, except the sound card, the headset uses USB. Unless you already own a 7.1 system already, but then i wonder why you need a new soundcard.

The thing is, that's a whole lot of money, for very little performance.

*I couldn't be arsed reading 9 pages, so sorry if you've changed your mind or I answered some question wich you've already got answered.

The soundcard is a luxury that i'll only get if i have left over cash, but thanks for pointing out the headset USB thing.

Its really difficult to track down a good headset.

If you like your ears being clamed. Beyerdynamic DT series, ATH700 range, Denon 1000/2000 or Sony MDR-V6

VERY VERY good bro!

I've had a look at some video reviews of the 990's and they seem to be more noiseier then what i'd be happy with.

Can you get the 990's in a closed sytle?

EDIT:

Seen the 770 Pro 80ohms version and they seem to match what i'm after perfectly, so i'll be grabbing them instead.

990 are semi open back and the DT770, I have them too, are closed back and leak very little sound and let very little in, even though they don't have ANC.

Thanks, i've been doing a lot of research into headphones.

Turns out that if i wanted the 250ohm 770's, i'd probably need an amp, but the xonar essence st seems to have one. So i'll probably get the 770's 250ohms.

I'd suggest the DT770 PRO 80 ohm and a Xonar STX

Why the 80ohm over the 250ohm? You have the 250ohm according to your sig?

Also most people say if you want better sound quality get the 250 and if you want more bass the 80. Since i have an amp on the sound card, it should provide enough drive for the 250ohms.

I suggest the 80 ohm for the sound card or 250 if you are using an amp. The 250's wont sound as good through a straight soundcard and no amp.
