Hah, I was looking at both laptops

and was just thinking wow.

They both seem decent.

But i'm just a novice with computers and laptops.

although pro at assembling them.

Which is better in your opinion?

Well could you give us what exactly your looking at and what your planning on using it for?

IMO MBP all the way just cause Macs are sexy looking and very nice quality. Only problem is the price tag

If you are looking to game go alienware, if not go apple. Simple as that. Yes Frag, I know you can game on a mac lol.

Cost me $1300 refurbished. C2D "Merom" versions are already shipping. Dells may not be as absolute high-end as Alienware, nor can they run OS X, but neither Apple nor Alienware can come anywhere close to Dell's value.

We all know what Frag's gonna say, but w/e.

I'd say go with an Alienware, or a Voodoo. Maybe even a Dell XPS.

having run my macbook pro now for a good few months i've yet to see it actually do anything out of the ordinary.. it's NEVER locked up or crashed yet..

compare that to my desktop which i've had no end of problems with lol.. it's madness

Seriously once you go Mac you never go back.. never.

I've used MAC OSX and foun it to be solid and dependible

However: I've not had a problem with windows that wasn't related to either:

*Hardware Issue (faulty RAM etc)

*Overclocking too much

So in that respect I don't think windows is too bad. AND at least windows doesn't make you run your system on proprietry hardware...

Mac, unless you feel the need for some mobile SLI power or something like that. My MBP runs every game I play flawlessly, I would never think about switching. Until maybe the new MacBook Pro's are released, muahaha!

@Kemp: And the new Intel based Macs are moving further and further away from running on proprietary hardware. The only thing really still proprietary is the mobo. People are already upgrading the proccies, memory, vid cards, etc in their Mac Pros.

Unfortunately, upgrading costs much more money then starting with.
