I believed the reasoning and got 2 EVGA 670 4gb SC's. I don't know if the extra 2gb makes a difference, but I wanted to be sure with the high res I run at. Sort of better value than 1 690.
I haven't had any crashes at all, but at first the microstutter with FC3 was terrible. Walking felt like the character was attached with intermittant bungie cord or something! As I said earlier, if I tweak certain settings I can remove it, also with the aim of keeping the fps up at the 50 - 60 mark. I thought moving the cards to the 2x16 PCIE slots would help it, but it didn't, just baked the cards quicker.
