Anywere still sell retail copys of XP?

It is as many installs as you want, I have done so many reinstalls on different hardware configs I can't even list it any more.

All you got to do is phone MS and ask them to activate it for you over the phone and give them a reason that you're upgrading your hardware.

So after three installs i can ring MS and they do something so i can still keep installing it?

You ring up, tell them you need to activate the copy, they ask if you have uninstalled the old copy on the old machine (or you say that you have upgraded the hardware sufficiently to make it need activation), they might ask a few more questions, make sure you've got your story straight (shouldn't be a problem) then they give you a new activation code, which you type in and windows activates and then you smile.

sorted then no worries.

ill buy a OEM version.

Next thing is though windows vista or XP.

XP's more stable and i want a stable machine!

Vista isn't anything like as bad as it was, but XP for me is beautiful. Running it on 4 machines in the house. Plus it will run on lower end hardware nicely. Good luck with your build
