hi guys,

I am looking for a New cpu cooler to go on my amd 9950 x4 (AM2 socket),

i need to replace my cpu cooler for a bit of overclocking,

i am running at 2.6ghz (stock) and want to clock to about 3ghz so need a decent cooler,

i have a nice lian li case which is basically made out of vents and fans so i dont need to go over the top, also i live in cold an rainy england... so it never gets that hot!

i was looking hopefully for something that can direct the heat out horizontally backwards into the rear outlet so to not disturb the airflow of the system.

can anyone recommend a good make, or even better a particular cooler?

after building this beast im not so well off so something reasonably priced (£20 - £40)

any suggestions??!?!

cheers,

jules

Another vote here for the TR U-120 extreme.

Great cooler, though maybe a little expensive, but certainly does the job.

Be aware though, it does not come with a fan, so you'll have to get a good fan to go with it (12cm), so that bumps the price up another tenner or so...

Something like a Yate Loon D12SH-12 (2200 rpm) is about £5~ but can be a little noisy for my tastes - but damn it moves air (rated 88cfm).

The Sharkoon Silent Eagle 2000 I use on my TU120E, and it moves sufficient air, and is a lot quieter than the Yate Loon. But its around £8.95

Huge Scythe Infinity or what I think is now called the Mugen SCINF-1000 keeps things right about ambient on my Core 2. Can even work well passive if you want it. It is HUGE though.

the h50 can not compete with high end air coolers.

It can. The problem is, however, that to compete and sometimes surpass you need to fit two fans and rifle them. So you end up spending far more for the same levels of noise. You also have to worry about pump failure and ETC.

EDIT. Rats.. Sorry for the double post...

TBH even I would say the D14 is overkill for AMD CPU's, never the less you wont get cooler and it will be quieter than any of the Corsair offerings.
