Anyone doing Computer science at uni?

I study (sounds much smarter than do) physics at cardiff uni, in the first year, which is pretty much in the same department as computer science. First year is a doss compared to the ones to follow. Guys I know doing computer science do a similar number of hours to me, around about 4 a day in the first year.

Facilities and everything are fine, lots of computers and stuff. Lots of easy to sleep in lecture theatres. It's all good :)

I was considering cardiff - nice place as long as they dont know you are english...lol

Whats boarding like? Not sure if i should do a mix of train from ludlow (welsh border by hereford) or board up

I'm a COMSC student at Cardiff Uni, in my 3rd year at the mo. Is there anything specific you want to know?

1st year is bliss, just a big

up really

2nd year is more of the same but with harder exams

3rd year is literally living hell, i cant remember the last time i had a social life

The school itself is okay i suppose, bit unorganised at times though. Cardiff is a great town for students, cheap and everything is centralised.

Plus theres a chance you'll see me in a club or bar one evening ;)

Seems alright so far tbh

Theres also aberwystyth or w/e its spelt like. Only about an hour and a half away from home and by the sea... not sure

I'd say definatly live in the accomidation at whatever uni you end up going to. Its much more sociable and you can't really do anything if your always going back and forth to home. Besides the loan you get it is pretty generous even in the lowest loan/highest home income bracket which I get. It's very sunny in cardiff today :)

I'm going to have to start going to open days and shizz already even if i still have to do 2nd year/ 2 years HND then uni

DO you know if cardiff offer the 1 year topup thingy to complete the HND - then i can go on to do my honours degree etc.

No idea mate. Agree with ali_james though, 1st is all about living it up in halls! It wouldn't have been the same if I hadn't of been woken up at 5.30am 3 times a week by the fire alarm, or if my 21 story building hadn't of flooded, or if my flatmates hadn't of decided that the flat should be redecorated with a paintball gun, or if someone hadn't beat their way thought one of the plaster walls from the corridor into our hallway, or if....i could go on lol

Yep they still love to do that to us :)

I can't imagine living without the sight of kebab all over my floor every few weeks. Breaking windows of the block opposite with our slingshot. The best times for sure.
