Anybody Else Getting Tiny Work Units?

Hi

Ever since I started running the V7 beta I have been mostly getting these tiny work units on core A4. Just wondering if anyone else has been getting them.

They seem to be doing wonders for my PPD if FAHControl is to be believed.

The project is 8004, base credit 88.59 points and TPF is between 31 and 33 seconds. I'm throwing out a unit and getting +/- 1500 points in less than an hour.

Anyone else getting lucky?

Nope, just the plain old 480 WU's for me. When did you start getting these WU's? I use V7 Client.

The two extra slot options I have setup are client type - bigadv and max-packet-size - big.

I have been getting these for about two weeks. I have had the odd WU that has had an awful PPD, like 17000 (reported) but mostly it's been these showing as 40000+ PPD

Well these certainly arnt regular bigadv, if they even come under the bigadv flag.

The units I'm getting are way smaller than even normal smp units. So I say try it with the option and see what happens.

The thing is, while I'm getting these tiny WUs, I'm getting a better PPD (if FAHControl is to be believed) than I ever did with bigadv.

I joined the bigadv late, after the bonus drop.

Yay! I got my i5 760 pulling 8001 bigadv units at 1M 16S TPF, that works out at about 11,300 PPD. will do a few of them today to see what it is like.

I have to say that Bigadv isn't really making an impact on performance, I got 15000 PPD on the A3 SMP units and I am only getting 11,300 on an 8001 Unit. I will wait to see what work unit I get next.

Yeah its the V7 beta.

20% into the unit and its gone down to 1M 10S TPF and that calculates to almost 12500PPD, not bad.

Hmmmmm, I think I might get the i5 2410m laptop onto the V7 beta. Try and crank as few of these WUs.

I have the V7 on the i5 laptop now. Project 8004. Estimated PPD 7400. I was only getting about 4000 running the SMP console client.

The i5 2410m is dual core with hyper threading for those who didn't know. It runs at 2.7ghz while folding (Turboed up from 2.3)

Quick update. The folding has settled down in the i5 2410m and now reports 8000PPD.

So I have put my T61 to work, runnung a T7100 @ 2ghz, on the V7 beta. First unit down was a 8004 with bas base points of 88.49

Running the SMP console client in this laptop got about 1300PPD. Lets see if it can break 2000 with these work units!

I have a T3400 2.2Ghz with 1MB cache. 1000PPD on normal SMP will try these units.

I'm at 6% now with the T7100 (hopefully when I get down to my perants on Wednesday, the ol' man has picked me up a T7300/T7500/T7700 so I'll get another bump with this laptop), with all windows closed so flash adds didnt chew up any cpu time, I have an estimated PPD of 1975.

When I use this laptop for internet and the like, the PPD would normally drop to about 1000PPD with the console.

So I'm going to hang around in here, have *feels sick* facebook open and run MSN Messenger, to see where the PPD drops down to.

This is just free points for doing nothing

Thats quite weird. My T61 is running Vista Business 32bit.

I did what I said I was going to do, kept the window open, one tab vfor the forum, one for face book. Got MSN open, even sent an email through Hotmail.

And My PPD is dropped to 1760 PPD.

I hope these 8004s dont dry up too quickly.
